"What I found so distressing about that briefing was that one of the messages we received from the briefers was, 'Do not debate. Do not discuss the issue of the appropriateness of further military intervention against Iran. And then if you do, you'll be emboldening Iran,'” Lee told news cameras following the briefing.

So some senators have an opinion?  Kind of like the Democrats that voted against impeachment in the House.

Ignoring the obvious narrative bait the thread was premised on, I find it interesting that Mike Lee isn't remotely as war-hawkish as his Utah Senate counterpart, Mittens McOrangeManBad.

More than anything else, it could be Mike Lee's reminder that neocons (that have permeated the GOP since the Reagan days) are scum and Trump wouldn't be making a good move to further cater much (if at all) to them. But, because Trump is trying to get re-elected, he probably figures he's likely going to have to make friends with someone he doesn't like. People like Lee and Paul are among the most principled, meaning they're likely to be ignored/minimized by GOP strategists (along with FOX News), and because they're GOP, will be ignored/demonized by the left, only used in circumstances like this when they can provide a useful anti-Trump quote.
