Long wait times for EAD and is an interim EAD possible?

I am on an L1A blanket visa, my husband is on an L2. His processing date is August 1st Vermont centre, and we're still waiting. He contacted USCIS, via askEmma and was told it's standard processing time of 5.5 - 7.5 months. 

 

As far as I know, he has to go to the SS office to apply for a SSN.

My husband's application was approved today (or his card is being printed). It's 5 months and 13 days since his application was received, we are ecstatic.

Just a final update on this thread. Received my EAD in the mail today. Receipt date was August 14. It was processed through Vermont Service Center and is valid from January 21 and received today, January 27. Total wait time was 5 months 13 days. SSN should arrive separately by mail within 2 weeks. Oh happy day!

Crossed POE July 20, 2019. Our visas are valid till July 20, 2021. Company can apply to renew or adjust status to green card. EAD expires with the visa.
