For the NOA-1 do we go off of the received date or receipt date? My received date is showing 01/24/20 and receipt date of 01/27/20 via text. When I checked in online it stated it was emailed to me. I did not get an email with any information. Nothing in the mail as of yet either.  Any thoughts?

I believe the receipt date. I too saw the notification that an "email" was sent when it wasn't. I received a letter in the mail a few days later.

I know cases get transferred all the time but is there a way to request a transfer?

If it's any consolation, even though ours is online it feels the same lol. Thank God for VJ - we can all have a rant and get through the madness together. Good luck with your submission. Will update my timeline once something happens and get an estimated timeline we can work with.

I also received that message but did not receive an email. You will get something in the mail shortly. My lawyer said up to two weeks.

Today, exactly a week after our petition package was delivered, our personal check was finally cashed, and shortly after we received a text receipt with an IOE#. The text doesn’t tell us which service center it’s getting forwarded to though, will we just have to wait for the official paper notice to find that out?

Correct. It will be on the paper they mail to you. I believe it is initially assigned by geographic location. It was true for mine. You can look at the link below for jurisdictions. If you're in Washington State, it looks like yours will likely go to Nebraska (me too).

That’s what I would think too but it seems like even though that’s how they used to determine service centers (by residential state), it doesn’t work that way anymore and no one has quite figured out the rules that the uscis goes by now (if there’s even any). I’ve read cases where folks living in the same state and filing at a similar time got sent to different centers.. So I guess I can only sit tight and keeping my fingers crossed!

Do you have a myUSCIS account? They “should” post the letters that they send you on there before mailing to you as a document.
It won’t say directly where your service center is, but in lower left corner of the page there is an address, that’s where you can tell what service center it’s at. The letter u get in the mail, which is the exact one u see online, will also be addressed from the service center you end up at.
Hopes that helps!

Ah thanks for the suggestion! I do not have an account yet; will I be able to create one using the receipt number that they just texted us?

We filed online so I can’t say with 100% accuracy but I am pretty sure you can!
