I'm sure this can be found somewhere else but I've been digging for a while and can't find the answer. How long did it take from the time your application was approved by USCIS until the NVC received your application and how did they notify you?

NVC won't notify you until the case ships to the consulate.  If NVC has your email then they will notify you by email,  if they don't,  then postal notice.

If you want something different,  you need to call or email them

YMMV

It can be 6-8 weeks before NVC will contact you by mail.    You can contact them by email (wait at least 4 weeks)    NVC will not mail out the notice or reply to the email until your case file has shipped to the embassy.

E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov

Subject line:  USCIS Receipt number from your I-797 Notice of Action (NOA)

Body of email:   "Requesting case file number"   (plus include below required information)

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:
(You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response):

* USCIS Receipt Number from your NOA-2  (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
* Petitioner's name and date of birth.
* Beneficiary's name and date of birth.

Mine took about 2 weeks  from NOA2 to  NVC. But  to know it you have to call NVC and ask for that information, also you call them  around 2 weeks later to get your NVC# number from them. Or you can email them to get a notification for when your case leaves NVC you but according to  the guides I've read  it may or may not work.

It's recommended that you read this guide made by @Greenbaum:

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

We got our NOA2 on Dec 16th. It arrived at the NVC on Jan 2nd and case number was assigned today, Jan 10th. Considering the holidays in between getting the NOA2 to receiving our case # seemed pretty quick.

OK Great! How long time does it take on average from NVC receipt to US embassy notification re. K1 packet?

Thank u

Depends on when you fall into the shipping schedule at NVC. How long it takes for your file to reach your country. How long it takes the embassy to set your record to "ready" condition. AND, how long it takes to send the email with the P3 letter. No one has that answer but those in your sub-forum here on VJ from your country can probably answer that for you.

Hi @Lyssalou! Our NOA2 is Dec 27th and NVC received our case on Jan 13th.

I see we have similar dates and you got your case number. Did they tell you your case number over the phone or you still have to wait for the email?

We tried calling on Friday but it was busy for too long and we didn’t reach them in the end. :(

I only got the number because I called them. I do have to call as soon as the clock strikes 7 am EST, otherwise I won't even get through to hold. Even then the hold is at least 25 minutes. Hopefully you find your number out soon!

Yes, I know. That is how we did it when we called and found out that they received the case.  But they did tell you your number and invoice ID over the phone?

Were you able to log in on CEAC yet?
