Hi everyone,

One question : Do I need a second medical exam for AOS after the K1 medical exam (my exam took place in October 2019)?

I read that I don't need it on USCIS website but a civil surgeon must confirm required vaccinations (DS-3025 form) and certify l-693 form (on visa journey).

I gave the complete file to the officer at my K1 visa interview in Montréal and the officer give me back my DS-3025 at the end. Everything was okay and I was approved.

Thank you for your help!

The instructions for the I-693 are pretty clear. If you apply for AOS up to one year of the foreign medical you don't need a new medical. But you still need to prove you completed the vaccination requirements. If it was completed with the foreign medical, just send the DS3025 with the AOS. If you completed the vaccination requirements in the US, you will need a civil surgeon to fill out the vaccination part of the I-693.

Thank you for your answer Ayrton. I just read this on VISA JOURNEY AOS TIPS

"If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon's office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof). If you do not have proof of your vaccination history the Civil Surgeon may insist on re-administering all the required vaccinations prior to completing the I-693. Once the Civil Surgeon has has verified that all required vaccinations have been performed, they will complete form I-693 Part 2 (the vaccination section) and Part 5 (the Civil Surgeon's Certification). They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you."

Here is how things works:

Have your medical examination in your country, complete the examination with all vaccinations required, and receive a DS3025. Ensure that the DS3025 is correct and complete.

Complete your K1 interview, and take your DS3025 with you to the USA.

Get married and file for AOS

Make a photocopy of the DS3025 and send it in with your AOS paperwork.

Wait.

You do not need to complete a new medical provided you file AOS within one year. There is sometimes a chance that the officer may request the vaccinations be re-certified on an I693 (usually due to the fact they don't understand how it works, failed to look up your records, or maybe just want to be difficult). In this case find a US Civil Surgeon that is willing to re-certify the vaccination portion only, bring your DS3025 as proof, and fill out the paperwork portions that are relevant.

It's pretty simple.

Probably old information. Always follow the official instructions.
