They did the exact same think to us.  He went there on a Tuesday and was told to come back on thursday and it still was not ready.  Now waiting for Monday.  If he did not pass his interview, will they tell him right then and there?

I think you'd get a form for a 221g or NOID. What does the status on CEAC say?

He did not get a form.  It just says administrative processing.  I scrapped thru the internet and found out that as of March 2020, Administrative processing can mean a host of things.  But is still isnt clear.

Yes we got a form

What is 221(g)?

221(g) is a temporary refusal of immigrant visa issued when the petition is going to be reconsidered and reviewed seeking more evidence. This evidence could be to establish eligibility or requiring further administrative processing. These come in different colors indicating different purposes.

What do the different colors of 221(g) indicate?

  • 221(g) Blue Form: A blue form implies that the US Visa Consulate needs an additional supporting document(s) to take a decision on a visa application.
  • 221(g) White Form: A white form indicates a complex category under 221(g). This slip denotes the need for further processing wherein it is handed over to the USCIS and the decision is finally taken based on the information gained from the USCIS.
  • 221(g) Pink Form: A pink form is issued when the Visa officer is suspects the information provided within the petition. This could be related to work, qualification or purpose of visit. Cases like these require additional administrative processing. If you receive a pink form, the visa officer will provide you with a reference ID where you can track the status of each application online.
  • 221(g) Yellow Form: A yellow form is issued when the visa consulates need more time to look at the documentation provided by the applicant. Depending upon how extensive this is, the time to revert can fluctuate. These type of cases require general administrative processing to substantiate the document(s).

What to do when you receive a 221(g) Slip?

The issuance of 221(g) doesn’t necessarily mean that the visa application is rejected or that the chances of finally getting the visa is diminished. In most cases, the US consulate is seeking more time to evaluate the application and may need additional documentation to reach a decision.

  • Acknowledge the form color. Each color denotes a different reason.
  • The reason for the temporary revocation will be indicated in the form issued.
  • Collate the required documentation and procure additional evidence as specified in the 221(g) form.
  • The additional documents can be submitted either electronically or at the Visa
  • Facilitation Services (VFS) drop box. Follow the instructions mentioned in 221(g) slip.
  • Once you have submitted the additional document(s) required by the consulate, you can track the status of your application online using the reference ID provided by the Visa Consulate.
  • The processing time for 221(g) varies from case to case. Most of the cases are completed within 60 days or less.
  • Sit back and wait to be notified by the USCIS about the next appointment. Do not contact them unless you hear back from them.
  • Make this next appointment and go for the next visa interview.

If you have been issued a 221(g) form lately and have questions or need legal advice, consult an experienced immigration lawyer to see where your case stands. Connect with an immigration lawyer and get your doubts cleared with a quick phone call.

They'll tell you when to pick it up. For ours, we got told to pick it up the Tuesday after a Thursday morning interview, but it wasn't ready when he went there, so they said to come back again the following Tuesday (after Thanksgiving when they were closed). So, pretty soon after the interview...

Dakar does give out colored forms that depends on the embassy. All the forms are white and they just mark what needs to be fixed.

If he got a green paper with a date on it, then it's conditionally approved and he should be good. Our status changed a bunch of times -there are other posts on here that list the normal progression and ours did that. After the interview it goes from refused to administrative processing to something else to issued, and that means it's ready to pick up.

If he was getting a 221g form, would they have given him that after the first time he was there?

I'd assume so, unless something new came up in administrative processing. I think you'll have to wait and see on Monday.

Our struggle is close to over.

Jan 2020 filed 129F petition.

February 2020 Got receipt for petition

August 2020 Petition was approved

US Embassy closed for remainder of 2020

March 2021 Did not wait for anyone to contact me from NVC.  Paid MRV fee and scheduled appointment for late July 2021

March 2021 Appointment was moved to April 2021 and notice was received from embassy with instructions

April 2021, Was mortified visa would was going into the blackhole of admin processing

April 2021, visa was approved and issued.

The main deal at the interview was they did an extensive background check on name and associated numbers like passport, drivers license ssn etc on fiance.  Mostly all questions asked were based on verifying relationship.  That made me happy because, I had been to see my fiance 6 times while waiting and we had lots of loving pics with me his family.  We even went on vacation together to another country.  Even still, they asked him for more pics.  I feel like the pandemic made this process really longer.
