James Holsinger, President George W. Bush's nominee for Surgeon General, has a dark view of homosexuals. In a 1991 paper, Holsinger describes homosexual sex in sickeningly lurid language. "Fist fornication," "sphincter injuries," "lacerations," "perforations" and "deaths seen in connection with ####### eroticism," are some of the terms Holsinger concocted to describe acts with which he suggests at least medical familiarity (a case of participant observation, perhaps?). At the same paper, Holsinger puzzlingly issues no warnings about the dangers of heterosexual sex in his paper. To him, only "####### eroticism" is a health peril.

Holsinger's allies -- those who lobbied the White House for his nomination -- include James Dobson's Focus on the Family and the Heritage Foundation. They have predictably cast his confirmation battle as a religious test, alleging that his homophobia is a reflection of orthodox Christian views. To oppose Holsinger on the grounds of his anti-gay sentiments, the right says, is to discriminate against him simply for being a bible-believing Christian. Why should he have to check his Christianity at the church exit door? they ask. This worn-out appeal to the Christian right's victimhood complex distracts from the most salient argument against Holsinger's confirmation -- which is exactly what it is intended to do.

The Huffington post. Need I say more?

Do you think they made up the facts?

I wouldn't put it past them. They are notorious for wild exaggerations and outright lies. Find that somewhere else and I would give it a lot more credibility. How much credibility would you give a story from redstate.org?

White paper 1991

Holsinger's 1991 paperWhile chief medical director of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Holsinger wrote a white paper entitled “Pathophysiology of Male Homosexuality” for the Committee to Study Homosexuality of the United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. In the paper, Holsinger discusses homosexuality from a medical standpoint. Holsinger references 14 scientific papers written between 1983 and 1988 from journals such as Archives of Sexual Behavior and The New England Journal of Medicine.[17] In his white paper, Holsinger states that ####### sex leads to trauma, STIs, disease, and AIDS. He refers to the "absolute separation" of the alimentary and reproductive tracts, noting that humans lack a cloaca (a combined reproductive/waste tract found in birds and reptiles).[17] He attributes numerous health problems of homosexuals to a violation of this natural separation.[18]

Holsinger quotes a study that states that “consensual penile-####### intercourse can be performed safely among homosexual men provided that there is proper lubrication.”[17]

Holsinger states penile-vaginal sex has fewer injuries and disease than penile-####### sex because the ####### is "designed" to receive the ####### and the ####### is not.[17] Holsinger reviewed a study of sexually transmitted diseases in heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexuals from 1988. He describes how this study “demonstrated that the profile of diseases was strongly correlated with sexual lifestyle.”[17] For example, pathologic protozoa were found in 31% of homosexuals but none of the heterosexuals. However, gonorrhea was diagnosed in 39% of heterosexuals but only 10% of homosexuals and bisexuals. [17] The 1988 study found that “the total burden of infections... was the largest amongst homosexuals.” [17]

Holsinger concludes the paper with

"The logical complementarity of the human sexes has been so recognized in our culture that it has entered our vocabulary in the form of naming various pipe fittings either the male pipe fitting or the female pipe fitting depending upon which one interlocks within the other. When the complementarity of the sexes is breached, injuries and disease may occur as noted above. Therefore, based on the simplest known anatomy and physiology, when dealing with the complementarity of the human sexes, one can simply say, Res ipsa loquitur - the thing speaks for itself! [sic]"[17]

In February of 1991, one month after submitting his paper, Holsinger resigned from the committee.[19] According to Richard Looney and J. Philip Wogaman, also members of the committee, Holsinger supported the church's position that homosexuality is not compatible with Christian teachings. When other members sought to revise this policy, he resigned.[20][21] According to Wogaman, "Holsinger opposed any recognition of homosexuality as normal. He took the view that it's pathological, that homosexuality is both sin and a kind of mental sickness. He was quite vocal about it."[22]

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Dude who gives a ###### which way he swings privately. This is why this country is where it is because people focus on is BS rights or someone's orientation or what ever band-wagon issue of the month they will support. He is what he is and that is between himself and God; Not anyone else who thinks they represent God.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Ok, thats better. The medical facts he presented seem to be reasonable. Since he did it for a church then he was entitled to interject his religious opinion. It would remain to be seen whether he would continue to interject his religious views into his work if he became the SG. I seem to remember a SG named Josolen Elders (sp?) that was pretty out there with her personal views. Just because this guy has strong personal opinions doesn't mean he would incorporate them into his work. The Huffingtonpost is known for slamming people of faith just because they are religious. That is very wrong.

True since apparently the only news service which lies is Fox News..
