I'm allergic to pretty much all metals. Not titanium, not gold (those 2 I'm sure I'm not allergic), but pretty much all the rest. Maybe you should check which metals you're not allergic and consider replacing your wedding ring.

It's never happened to me-but it happens to my mum & my sister. Sometimes 10k, 14k or 18k gold or even silver is mixed with nickel in processing it from it's raw state. You may have an allergic reaction to nickel. It's very common. I used to work in a jewelry store while I was in college.

If you LOVE the ring, get some clear nail polish and apply it to the inside of the ring where it touches yoru finger. It will wear off off in a few weeks from activity, and then simply apply it again. My mum does this will all her earrings, rings, and bracelets...

Good Luck !

my mom used to do that with my earrings also. But after I grew up I just quit wearing them, too much trouble. It's a good idea, works fine for earrings, but the ring will touch 2 other fingers, it's a temporary fix, since it's something you will have to wear for the rest of your life if it was me I'd replace it.

I have pretty tough skin but Luz gave me one ring that does that to me. It's marked 18K gold and I have a lot of other jewelry that does not do that to me. I asked a jeweler about it and he said it has something to do with what they mix in with the gold. He suggested that I coat the inside with clear nail polish.

My dad is highly allergic to metal on his hands and can't wear rings or watches. Many years ago, my mom's ring went down the drain and she had dad's downsized for her. The took the piece that was removed and made it into a necklace for my dad and he wears that. If your ring is sooo sentimental, maybe you could look into a new ring that won't irritate you and wear your sentimental ring on a necklace or have it made into a pendant. Just a suggestion.

I initially had this problem but never knew of any allergy to gold or had problems wearing jewelry before. I also never had a ring that I wore every single day and rarely took off.

I used cortisone cream, made sure I took my rings off at night and the problem went away.

depends on the metal. You might want to get it plated (the same way people who have white gold rings sometimes have to get their rings redone to cover up the yellow gold color). Take it to a jeweller and see exactly what the metal it's made out of is (if you don't know already) and ask them fora suggestion. Seems a shame to cover it in nail polish or have to use cortisone cream (which you really don't want to do unless you really really have to).

A friend of mine has the same problem. She's tried all sorts of suggestions with no luck. I think she's going to have to buy something else to wear. :(

Most likely nickel. Even expensive jewelery can have it.

It's white gold with 5 diamonds on top, but what is weird is the skin that is affected is right where the diamonds are. The whole other side of my finger is fine as are the fingers next to it.

I think I'll bring it to a jeweler this weekend and see what they say.
