Hello! I just joined the site and have read a few posts pertaining to my situation. I still have a few questions if anyone is able to answer!

1. I  heard that some U.S. embassies do not accept a joint sponsor for K-1 visas, is that true?

2. If not, when would I be notified that I will need to add in the joint sponsor's information?

Thank you in advance~

I would also like to add:

3. If notified only during the interview, would we have to reschedule the interview after mailing the joint sponsor's form? Or could the information be e-mailed to speed up the process?

Thanks again!

1)  no embassy is required to accept joint sponsors as the assessment is based on your entire circumstances

2) at the interview.   A joint sponsor submits a separate affidavit so there is no adding to yours

3)  at the interview.   If your affidavit is insufficient then a 221g is typically issued which provides an opportunity to cure.  Most individuals in your situation have a joint sponsor affidavit in there "pocket " to present on the day, if needed

YMMV

Okay! Thank you so much. I will then plan on having the joint sponsor's affidavit available just in case it is needed.

Submit both support documents at the same time if your gross income is questionable for meeting the I-864P poverty guidelines.
