Hello everyone, I am trying to find round trip flights from Spb/Moscow to either Cancun/Mexico City. I have a trip planned with my Fiancee in Mexico where we will meet, but we didn't know she needed a transit visa for layovers in the US.  So, we want to avoid going through all this and want to find a way to travel from Russia to Mexico without landing in the US. We plan to meet either in March/April depending on ticket prices. I've searched on Kayak, Skyscanner, Kiwi.com etc. It seems tickets are about $800+. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. 😅

Can't help you much there... that's one reason why we ended up not meeting in Mexico. If you're not heart-set on Mexico, I'd maybe consider another destination? It's pretty easy for Russians to get Schengen visas for Europe, for one.

Also possibly worth considering if your fiancée is somewhere where flying out of St. Petersburg might be reasonable... maybe look at itineraries from Helsinki?

But about all you can do is search on days you want to travel and look at the itineraries. There are direct flights to Mexico City and Cancun from several European airports, so if connections work right, it's doable.

She does have a Schengen visa. The reason I'm set on Mexico is because it's simple for my family to just drive down there and meet her.

In that case you might also look at buying tickets separately (i.e. Moscow to Amsterdam and then Amsterdam to Mexico City or something like that), though I don't know what that would do for pricing and you'd need to be careful because separate airlines wouldn't know about any delays.

We bought a ticket that connected in Peking to Mexico City.  The flight stopped for gas in Tijuana but was good other than that.

You can certainly fly from the UK to Mexico direct, I assume all the other major hubs have such options.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I gotta buy a direct flight from Moscow to Cancun. Buying 2 separate flights is the same price as buying one. Also, some layovers are crazy long. Moscow to Cancun seems like the only option.
