My dad is a US citizen and mom is a 10 years green card holder.I am 25 years of age and my petition was filed 3 years ago.

I have about 2 more years of waiting and that is not a problem.

I am a medical student in Barbados and want to apply for a B2 visa for educational purposes. Most students in my school have been granted this visa for the same reason I want to apply, but I am somewhat concerned because unlike them, I have a pending immigration petition.

On the face of it, with continued registration at med school and not being an immediate relative category for your immigrant visa, I think with an appropriate application you may get a visa, but it’s far from a certainty. Be aware that many consular officials don’t look at any evidence you bring, but bring it anyway (school details, any rental agreement you have etc).

As an aside, are you also writing USMLE exams?

My husband got the tourist visa dined because he had the 130 petition pending you can apply but you will must likely get denied.

Was that the reason given......or was it due to lack of strong ties to his country?

They told him at the interview that the reason the visa was Dined was because he had a petition so he did not qualify for a tourist visa

An IR petition judging by your profile, which has a very different “risk” profile than a priority-date based family visa. (Someone with an IR petition filed can just stay and adjust with no penalties once they are in the US, which is not the case for a F-number visa.)

Just a petition is not reason to deny, I got a B visa with a filed petition.
