Filing DCF through London

Hello everyone. Not posted here in ages. I'm trying to get some sense of timeline for those who have done their DCF through London. Sadly, my husband and I just moved back to the UK last May and have found that we miss our life back in the US more than we expected. So we are trying to save like mad to move back in the next few years. I realize they are planning on closing some of the USCIS offices for DCF, but i'm hopeful London remains. With that said, I would love to hear some of the experience/timelines for those who have filed through London. From what i've read it is filing the I-130, waiting on approval, then filing the IR-1 (we've been married for nearly 12 years now). Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Better save like mad because its likely to be by August 2020.  London is not on the list to be retained

It seems to me that you have 2 options:

1.  File DCF very, very soon since it will likely take a few months.

2.  Start the 12-16 month non-DCF process of filing now by sending the I-130 package to the US.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you both for your replies. Sadly, trying to do it by August is going to be quite difficult as we have to prove assets that meet the 3x poverty level. Either way we will have to be applying from here, just not sure when we can yet. I knew they were closing offices, but so far there is nothing on the USCIS site indicating the London office is closing soon. Guess I will play it by ear, though I would really like to hear of experiences of those who used the London office and what they provided.

The Press Release stated that the remaining 13 USCIS International Field Offices, including the USCIS London Field Office, would close between August 9, 2019 and August 2020.

You left before removing conditions?  If you had a 10 year green card did you surrender it?

If you are starting over you could . . .

1- watch for the closing of the USCIS office.  They really haven't given much a lead time.   It is gone like this . . . We are closing the office in 90 days but will only accept petitions for another 30 days.

2- Or you can file DCF now.  You don't have to have the financials until you interview.  Once USCIS approves and it gets to the consulate you can delay as long as you keep in touch with consulate.

Sorry you’ve confused me... you removed conditions in 2011... why do you have to do DCF if you got your unconditional green card?

Sounds like they abandoned it by returning to the UK.

My husband had his 10 greencard but we were under the impression if we were out of the country for over 6 months we had to surrender it. Our original intention was to make the move to the UK permanent. Unfortunately, we've found out that we preferred our life back in the US. Sadly, the timeframe to get back to the UK didn't allow for my husband to try for his citizenship from the US beforehand. I guess we'll just keep an eye out on the closings and go from there. Thanks for the responses from everyone.
