Annulment takes a long time and relatively costs a lot of money so does not seem very common.

Annulment requires specific causes, often takes years in PH, and is quite expensive. It's night and day from the relatively simple process for a divorce in most places.

Most Filipinos with a prior marriage tend to never go through the process and just live with a new SO. Obviously that has issues when you bring immigration into the mix, which is the OP's current predicament.

I recall there being a GUAM loophole!   He can get a divorce quickly if he doesn't overstay his US visa and it is uncontested.

I do not as I am not Filipino 

However, I was just stating that there is an avenue.....albeit expensive.

Which by and large is out of reach of 95% of Filipinos. That's why many of them vote to try and get a divorce abroad or go the Sharia court divorce route before that loophole was closed.
