I am filing for adjustment of status for my spouse after getting married and was wondering if it matters if the state we file in is different from the state we got married in?

It doesn't mean anything; people do it all the time.

Lots of K-1 couples marry in Vegas that don't live in Nevada, for one.

It's absolutely fine and acceptable. Many people fly into a different state, live in a different state, and marry in a different state altogether. It doesn't negatively affect your AOS.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.

Much ado about nothing

YMMV

The only way it would be an issue was if your state didn’t recognize (permit) the marriage. Like if you lived in Texas - which does not permit first cousins to marry IIRC - and went out of state for the purpose to marry your first cousin in a state where it is legal.

Edit: Another example would be if somebody was under 18 and there were limits or requirements in your home state so you marry in another state (although the movement of minors across state lines is a major issue in itself...).
