Just received 10 year Greencard

Hey

Just today received my 10 year greencard through marriage.

My 2 year greencard said that I become a resident from April 20th 2017.

My 10 year one says that I become a resident on April 2nd 2017.

Does that mean I can apply for citizenship now or wait till the 20th of January 2020.

Many thanks!

What date did you become a resident on?  That’s what matters.

It looks to me, like it may be a clerical error on your new card.  You will want to fix that.

Whatever the correct date is, subtract 90 days.  For more clarity google “USCIS date calendar” and they have a tool to do it for you.

Again, use the correct date.  Whether that’s the 20th or the 2nd.  You have to look back to your i485 approval notice for that, and rectify the new card (if it’s wrong).

I'm going to wait till the 20th for sure. Rather not get denial for n-400

if you are gonna do the 90 day thing, wait 5 more days.

There have been reports that if you apply exactly on the 90 day mark, the petiton on the elis system shows as filed on day 91 and gets denied. Wait extra 5 days and file 85 days before the 5/3 year rule

That's a problem. You'll want to get it fixed. I almost got denied my citizenship because my resident since date was wrong. I was able to convince the officer to reconsider and she approved me 4 hours after my interview. Only because I had proof of my real resident since date.

From what I've read elsewhere, I can take my conditional greencard and my 10 year greencard to my n-400 interview and show them the correct date on the conditional.

I rather not wait 6-12 months for another greencard

Seems like someone put 02 instead of 20......definitely a clerical error. However, what date did you enter the US...20th or 2nd April?

Earliest Accepted Filing Date: 01/21/2020. I sure would wait until after that. Your residency date is the date you arrived. So if it's 4/20/2017 then wait till the 21st to be safe.

Did you have a 2-yr conditional greencard which is why you filed ROC?

Great, so then the date you would have entered the US at the POE would have been your "Resident Since..." date. For instance, I entered the US on 8/6/16 so my Resident Since date is that and I filed my ROC 90 days prior to that date.

When filing for N400, you should file within 90 days of your 3-year residency date. So if you entered the US on 4/2/2017, then you can safely file for N400 on Monday 6th January, 2020...given that your date is correct on your 10-yr green card. If the date on your green card is 4/20/2017, then 90 days before then would be to safely file on Friday 24th January, 2020.

Also, check if you are able to file N400 online. This way, you have your application inside and it is saved for you up to 30 days.
