Questions for GP Doc in England for Medical Appt

Hi,

We created a list of what we need to ask my fiances GP in England. Can anyone let me know if I am missing anything?

List to bring to GP:

-The US shot chart to compare to what you had done as a child; any shots that you haven’t had that are required for US law, get done at doctor appointment

(Get the shots BEFORE the medical exam so he can be signed off for adjustment of status and finished without any further worry about medicals for immigration.  There's only 4 shots for adults. Some he may already have. Varicella can be waived. Most likely he only needs a flu shot and Td (Tetanus/diphtheria). Get shots sorted before everything you're working on now and before making a medical appointment)

Need to get from GP to bring to medical appointment:

-Vaccination records with original certification (Shot/Immunization)

-Print out medical records – health summary from GP

-Copies of GP/specialist reports, if available, for any significant medical conditions, including all psychiatric. If there is any history of TB or tuberculosis contact, please obtain old records, including investigation and treatment details

Doctor will send results to embassy or hand print copies for you to bring to embassy.

No

The embassy wants nothing from your personal doctor (your GP).

I'm sorry I meant that the Medical Doctor at the appointment will, not the GP.

So you can update your notes--

The UK visa clinic will not hand you copies of your medical. (You are still going by lists that cover the entire world. I think this may happen in Juarez, Mexico, but not London. Our maid interviewed there last year and that's what she did.)

We've already discussed in two threads this week that the visa medical clinic sends the medical results electronically to the embassy instead of by courier like they did forever.  It's faster and a cost savings to the clinic.

Don't forget to bring the passport photos and the medical questionnaire.

Seconded. Once done with the medical, they don't give you anything except a receipt of your payment.

They apparently take a digital photo to attach at the medical now. The results go to the embassy digitally instead of paper records.

They give you a copy of the DS-3025 (immunisation form) to take with you.

My fiances appointment with his GP is tomorrow morning. We dont want to miss anything so he can schedule his medical asap. Is there anything we are missing?

To Do/Get at GP:

1. Show Doctor Chart of 4 Shots Needed to Live in US

              a. If you HAD any + any others from childhood, get a vaccination record with original certification and print out (Shot/Immunization)

              b. If you HAVENT had any of the four to live US, to get done + record of it

2. Print out health summary/any medical records that are not included in the above

              a. Copies of GP/specialist reports, if available, for any significant medical conditions, including all psychiatric. If there is any history of TB or tuberculosis contact, please obtain old records, including investigation and treatment details

US Shots:

-The US shot chart to compare to what you had done as a child; any shots that you haven’t had that are required for US law, get done at doctor appointment

(Get the shots BEFORE the medical exam so he can be signed off for adjustment of status and finished without any further worry about medicals for immigration.  There's only 4 shots for adults. You don't understand the shots yet. See the underlined part for important things you left off.

Here are the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:

  • Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. If you have a record of receiving pertussis, then the Td is okay for the booster.
  • MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella.  It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.
  • Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK . A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam. They will also waive the shot in the UK for "not routinely available". That works for spouse visas but not fiancés who could get the shot after POE and go to a civil surgeon to sign off.
  • Influenza - Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31.  If your medical is not during flu season, you don't need it.

Thanks for the below.

To confirm, if he hasnt had a dose of DT, DTP or DTap in the last ten years, he will need a boost of one of those three? This one is a little confusing on how they are naming the shots.
  • MMR - Mumps/measles/rubella.  It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If he only had one dose, he will get the second tomorrow.
Since he had chicken pox, this is null? For someone on the fiance visa who hasnt, they would need to get in the states?
  • Influenza - Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31.  If your medical is not during flu season, you don't need it. Will need this as he hasnt had one this year.

Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP

T is for tetanus

D is for diptheria

P is for pertussis

As long as he has something within the last 10 years with a T and D in it, then the order doesn't matter. In the UK they will give him tetanus/diphtheria plus polio. Doesn't matter as long as the T and D are in the shot.

I think what I said was pretty clear:

" A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot."

The medical office nurses and doctors are very nice and will walk you through the entire process and make sure you have everything or are able to get it set it for them. They are in-depth.

Thanks and good to know! We just want to make sure we have what we need from my fiances GP before getting to the medical interview so he doesnt get there and not have something, therefore slowing the process down to schedule the interview :) We are so close!

Sorry to come into this thread, but I have my medical Wednesday and have all docs except the passport photos, I have 3 but not the 4 as requested. I can get these easily enough tomorrow but I notice you said they take a digital photo, so does this mean I no longer need these? Thanks in advance!

That was reported recently by someone. I would say call the clinic and ask if this is something new they do or will you have to bring 4 photos. Then report back here what they tell you. Processes change and we need to see if a pattern develops from reported experiences.

Our medical was about 2 weeks ago and they took all four of our passport photos and stapled them to various sheets used through the exam.
