missing information on n-400

I am applying for naturalization. I live in the USA since 8 years and my wife is a citizen since birth. My wife had a previous marriage long ago and we cannot find the date of birth of the previous husband nor the date of the previous marriage. We have the divorce decree.  Will missing those two dates on the form pose a risk to my application?

Wouldn't the date the marriage began be listed on the divorce decree?  I always assumed that info was on most divorce decrees.

 

Date of birth of previous husband can be listed as "unknown" on the application, if she truly cannot remember at least the month or year.

@Going through is right, the date marriage should be indicated on the divorce decree.

- Yes, I should have made a copy of my Green Card application and I should have kept it...

- The divorce decree was not a US one. Surprisingly the date of marriage doesn't appear on it.

 

Hence (at least one of) my questions still stand: Omitting the dates could put me at risk of rejection?

If you truly don't know the information, and cannot find it from other sources (ie. asking other family members who might know the date) then, as I said, you can put "unknown" for the info you do not know.  If she remembers at least the year the marriage occurred or at least the year of his birth she can put that.

 

Rejection of the application and denial of the N400 are two separate things.  The application itself shouldn't be rejected (ie. sent back for incompleteness) with putting "unknown" since you still answered the questions instead of skipping over them altogether.

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I will keep on trying recovering those dates, but now I have a better idea of the implications of not knowing them.
