Just to add to what canadavisa22 is saying, not too long after people started getting their police certificates rejected by Montreal the RCMP sent out a notice to places such as Commissionaires to inform them that the requirements had changed. It has been poorly communicated because nothing has changed on the civil documents page and the NVC is still (mostly) accepting versions that say things other than "Other". Personally, I got both versions just in case.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

There's a group of Canadian filers that are sharing their process and experiences and that's been the biggest topic. A bunch of people had their police certificate rejected for being the "wrong" one while some had theirs accepted. No one really knows why or how the CO is making the distinction. But we've gathered that the "other" type is the only one that's not been rejected.

So the source is simply a collection of filers over the last 6-8 months who have gone to interviews.

I'd encourage anyone reading this to make sure they have that police certificate as well just in case.

And you can request the one that says other. I even printed off an example of it and brought it to Commissionaires but the agent there already knew exactly which one I needed.

Yikes, well that's good to know. Seems rather pedantic since the results are pulled from the same database no matter the request type. Wish they could officially clarify this part or post a sample of the accepted document. 🙄 Good luck!

To OP and anyone else trying to get the correct certificate now, please keep the quoted comments in mind. Also it takes at least a week to arrive so make sure to time it right.

Help!!!

What are the requirements for the Canadian Police certificate? My interview is next week and I just read somewhere that not all the RCMP police certificates are accepted? Will my visa be denied???

Update: had interview today - visa approved. Police certificate that I had was accepted.

So I'm a little worried now. My husband requested under the privacy act but I'm seeing some say that it should say "other" under the request type, where his says for non-certified criminal information. Is this what yours said @Val0000 ? Or should we go get a different one?

Just read through the last page of this post and this is all answered. "Other" is not 100% necessary as people have been approved without it, but some have had theirs rejected. If you can request another one it's good to have just in case. If not, well then you have to try your luck as OP did and they were fine.

I tried to call the local RCMP to arrange for the CRC appointment as well but they told me I will need a specific document that explains why they need to take my fingerprints?? Has anyone else had this issue or can suggest any solution? I do not have any such document to provide the RCMP

The RCMP rarely do the fingerprints.  Find somewhere like the Commissionares and have them do them.  Just be specific, as indicated above, that you need the fingerprints under the Privacy Act.  If you receive a document with copies of your fingerprints, it's not the correct one.

Hi guys!

Anyone who had to do that in 2021?? I am applying for a green card (DV Lottery) and I wonder if things changed? Anyone who had their interview end of 2020 or in 2021?

I need help. My parents applied 15 years ago and our documents are getting reviewed. Ans i live in Canada as an international student. Will i have to go back to India for my interview with my parents or i can give my interview in Canada too? If i can give the interview here, what's the procedure?

Thanks
