I-134 Questions

Hi, I am filling out the evidence of support. I am reading the form from this website:

You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, you do not need to sign Form I-134 in front of a notary or have your signature notarized after you sign it. This is confusing. I just sign my name - Am I missing something?

Where you submit the form depends on whether the alien you are sponsoring is in or outside the United States and what type of application is being submitted. See the instructions provided with the corresponding application for detailed information on where to submit this affidavit of support. We cant find information on where to file. We read the instructions and it brings us back to a number/nothing helpful. Do we just bring it all to the interview or submit it somewhere beforehand?

Did you submit the following?

  • A signed statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution that states when you opened an account, the total amount deposited for the past year, and the present balance of such account  Do I need to have a certain amount in it, I assume an amount that is above poverty line?
  • A signed statement from your employer on business letterhead that states the date and nature of your employment, salary paid, and whether the position is temporary or permanent Do I write the letter saying all that information then have my boss sign it on letterhead of my company?
  • A copy of your last income federal tax return filed, or a report of commercial rating concern (if self-employed)
  • A list containing the serial numbers and denominations of bonds and names of the owners (if applicable)

Did anyone else submit anything else to show they can provide for their future partner in the US?

Is this for the interview, K1 and in U.K.?

1.  The petitioner can just sign at the bottom of the I134 and you do not need this notarized.

2. I gave my now husband a letter from my Area Director for employee verification and salary - I wrote it and put it on our letterhead and my director signed it for me (or have your HR department help you)

3. Last years transcripts (we brought all three years but was not necessary).

4. sent him with a few pay stubs and that was about it.

The beneficiary (applicant) brings everything to the interview with them.
Don't stress to much or overthink this part in the process.
We brought to much actually and having your interview out of London is not bad as long as you met the requirements.
Good luck on your journey !

I printed out my actual pay stubs.
I am not certain if that works. I would ask @Wuozopo

I would follow what he’s already stated on the other posts for you as well.
He helped us during interview and had no issues at all.

Thanks for the response. I will get my tax returns filed from last year.

Does anyone know this answer + "signed statement from an officer of the bank" I have never heard that phrasing in my life. Do they mean your financial advisor from your bank institution?

Is this something the bank creates with the information above? I have never heard of that.

If you go to your bank and ask for it and mention it’s for immigration they should know What to supply you. Basically they print out a packet of your account and all deposits over the last year. Basically to show steady income.

Did a manager from your bank have to sign it? Did you have a certain amount in it? I thought I had to show I had XX amount in it

You do NOT need anything from your bank  Positive. Prove you have a job and salary. Forget the bank.

A bank officer will print it out and sign it, doesn't have to have a certain amount at all. It's just further evidence of income. I wouldn't worry about it much if you're above the limit and have an employment letter and your tax returns from last year.

All you need for a London K1 interview is an employer letter if you are above the poverty level. They are very chill on the I-134. Usually they just glance at it and don't even discuss it at the interview.   If you want a back up, then take some pay stubs.

LONDON has approved many, many K1s with only an employer letter. If you don't want to bother the boss for a letter, then use your 2018 tax return.

@Caitlin Kennedy

If it's blue, it is a field you can type in. But sometimes you have to answer something before the appropriate partner field will turn blue.

It also could be a browser issue. It worked for me using Microsoft Edge and the older Internet Explorer browsers.

Click Apartment and the number box should become a typing field. If you don't click one of the choices first, you can't type in the box. The last thing that you cut off in your pic asks if the mailing address and physical are the same. The physical address is at the top of the next column, but it won't turn blue for typing unless you chose No to the question asking if the mailing address and physical are the same. If you say yes they are the same, then you can't type an alternate physical address.

On Part lll, choose either  1a Employed or 1b Self-employed  by clicking in the little box. Then the rest of that question will turn blue to show you can fill in the rest of 1a or 1b, depending on which one you ticked.
