Hello All,

Upon entering into the USA on K1-Fiance,

Is it okay to get married first according to Indian customs in the US and then get married in the courthouse and obtain official marriage license?

Thanks!

USCIS dont care when you got married, as long as you got married before the deadline for K1 and the date on the certificate is before that date.

IRC you have 90 days from date of entry to be married.

You sure you want to run with the stress of planning a wedding < 45 days ? this assumes your K1 will come through in a timely manner and nothing goes off the predicted timeline.

A non-legal celebration once in the US should not be a problem. Just get legally married within the 90 days, and make sure that the celebration isn't legally recognized within the state it occurs.

Absolutely fine. Just note that many Indian religious organizations also offer valid marriage certificates and licenses. So, you don't necessarily have to do it at a courthouse unless you want to. You can ask the religious organization head whether they're registered in the state where you live.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.
