I received a letter from USCIS today with the following message

' We completed the preliminary review of your case and as part of standard processing we are transferring your case to the following service center - NBC, Lee's Summit, MO'

Does this means interview for sure or something else like background checks and other issues because they said they completed the preliminary review. I submitted tons of evidence when i filed ROC.

I-751 receipt numbers with the prefix MSC are routed for interview scheduling; receipt numbers that do not contain the MSC prefix (e.g., EAC, VSC, LIN, etc.) are routed to the appropriate service center for an interview waiver determination. The speakers also clarified that, if the jointly filed I-751 petition is pending at the time of the N-400 interview, an applicant should bring his or her petitioning spouse to the naturalization interview.

National Benefits Center (NBC) The NBC was created by USCIS in 2001. The NBC's mission is to process applications that are to be sent to a local service center for interview. Each application (work authorization, travel document, spouse visa and green card application) is assigned a case number.

Timeline

Hey everyone! Our case was approved on 6/14 -- sorry, I've been meaning to post an update for a while, but life has been exceptionally busy. We have a WAC case number (transferred to National Benefits Center last December).

The timeline for our approval was a bit funky. For example, we received the email notification of the card being ordered before the notification of our case being approved. See the timeline in my signature for more details. Also, we never received a letter or notification of any kind for a biometrics appointment prior to the approval -- the only mention of biometrics was in the email notification we received on 6/14 that fingerprints had been applied to our case. We assumed they reused an earlier set of fingerprints.

However, very strangely, we received a letter in the mail a few days ago for a biometrics appointment on 8/3 -- that's right, we received this about a month after our case had already been approved. It was addressed from the California Service Center whereas the physical approval letter we received last month was addressed from the National Benefits Center, so I'm thinking there might have been a glitch or lack of communication between service centers in the system. We called the USCIS a few days ago to inquire, and we're currently awaiting a follow-up response from a Tier 2 officer on this bit of weirdness.

What kind it evidence did you provide? Also did you take photocopies of the evidence you already submitted with your application or just for the period after your application? Thanks!

I provided our lease agreement, car purchase documents, joint bank account statements, health insurance, trip confirmations, photos and social media printouts (because we rarely take pictures together). I brought copies of what I had sent in before, just in case, but the officer didn't need those.

Thank you! Can you please also share some of the questions that were asked during the interview? I have my i751 and N400 combo interview next Wednesday. Will greatly appreciate if you can share some questions.

Sure. It was pretty straightforward stuff for us:

what does spouse do for work, how long has spouse worked there?

do you want kids?

what was the last trip you took and why did you go there?

why are you moving to <city>?

do you own your home?

We had talked about me never meeting my spouse's parents so she asked about that as well. It was pretty conversational. She even excused herself halfway to grab some coffee from a colleague in the hallway.

That's about all I can remember. After that she made copies of our ID documents and that was it.

My bio appt. took place on March 2021, since then no updates online or via letter.

Hi! Just wanted to post an update on my N400 progress.

So, firstly, I have to correct my own post I’m quoting above: that bio appt. made for March was for my I751 (Removal of conditions).

Those fingerprints got denied bcs I have very faint fingerprints (I was not surprised to get an RFE/an appt. to retake them on Aug. 13th). It literally said the FBI couldn’t accept them lol I received this letter via snail-mail on the July 24th.

The real update to the N400 happened right after: via email, I got a PDF letter saying I had a bio appt. for the N400 for August 16th. I had to download the letter from the USCIS portal though.

To avoid going twice, I called USCIS and the agent told me to go on Aug. 16th with both printed letters. I did so, and today morning my USCIS portal showed the N400 updated to ‘… Your case is actively being reviewed by USCIS.’ I’m hoping for a combo interview soon. I don’t think I’ll get updates on the I751 soon bcs I started that process by mail.

I hope this helps! Good luck to all of you, we are getting close to end our journey.

I became a citizen today! Filed my N400 on 12/29/2020, had my interview today 03/30/2021.

I was initially scheduled for my I-751 but once in the room I inquired about my N400 and asked if they could conduct that one today as well.

They agreed, they did my N400 interview after they approved my I751 on the spot and I had a same-day oath ceremony as well.

Extremely happy that the journey ends for me here. Thanks Visajourney for all the help!

Hello! Anyone who had a combo i751 and N400 do you know how long it usually takes from the interview get either your passport or Green card in the mail? Not sure if Green card is still mailed or you just the passport as i don’t see any point of sending both. My Drivers license is expiring 10/10 and combo interview is scheduled for tomm. Wondering if il get anything back from them in time or would still need stamp. Thanks

Just had my combo interview today and everything went smooth. The officer said i should expect to receive my letter for oath ceremony in 2-4 weeks time. My online status for both of my cases has not changed though. Does anybody know how long it usually takes to update after interview? Is there anything to worry about if it doesn’t?

Today I received information

Application Type: I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE
Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

Finally!

My case was a little bit unusual. In June  we apply to expedite it as my husband got orders to go for 3 years military assignment overseas. We moved overseas  at the end of July so I apply to change my address. On August 4th I was informed my expedite request was approved.
The interview was waived.

Now I am preparing documents to apply for naturalization. Would be interesting to do this while living overseas.
