GC Interview date received, need to renew EAD/AP?

Hi All, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I received my interview for the beginning of February!!! I was about to start looking at renewing my EAD/AP combo card as it id due to expire at the beginning of June. My question(s) are:

  • Should I go ahead and renew my EAD/AP? My head says yes just in case the GC interview requires more info - I'm not 100% they're not going to ask me for another medical as I hadn't had all the vaccinations when I had my last one, and although I've now had them all, they were done by my own doctor not the visa medical doctor.
  • If i do need to renew EAD/AP what info do I need to change on the form? I've moved so obviously new address, but on AP form it doesn't ask if I'm renewing?

Apologies if these questions have been asked and answered recently - I've been pretty inactive on VJ since receiving my card and starting work!

Thanks in advance!

You’ll be applying for a new AP not renewing it that’s why you don’t see renewal option. When you file for EAD renewal along with i131, you may get the new combo card though.

You can go with either of the following

1. File for renewal now

2. Wait a month till the interview, your EAD is valid till 4 months from the interview date, you can file for renewal after the interview if it gets dragged on. After you file for renewal, your existing EAD is auto extended by ~6 months anyway,

If your medical wasn’t complete, i suggest you bring completed i693 with you so that you don’t get held up by the medical.

Thanks arken,

To complete the i-693 do I need to schedule another medical before the GC interview?

You can go to a uscis designated civil surgeon with proof of vaccinations and he will provide you the sealed i693 for a fee to bring to the interview.

Great thanks, I had a quick look and there are a lot of options, I guess I'll have to spend some time calling them to get a price. Thanks for your help.

Try to find one who will fill out the immunisation section of the I-693 without doing an entire new medical exam. Your K1 medical in London is valid for AOS.  Many Civil Surgeons do not understand the K1 process. It is written in the I-693 instructions. Read those so you are informed when you start calling,

Thanks for your help - I've called about 10 different civil surgeons this morning and they are all giving me the same information that if i need a sealed envelope with form i-693 completed inside that I will have to pay the full fee for the medical (about $400).

I read through the instructions and it says as i applied for AOS within a year of my K1 medical then I do not need a full medical - as I have had the vaccination now, and have the chest xray and have already submitted the sealed envelope when I entered the US do I need to try and get i-693 completed?

You were given a copy of your immunisation form from your London medical. If it is marked that you completed requirements, then no I-693 is needed. However you said you got shots after the exam so you have no official immigration form that shows you have completed the immunisation requirements.

The USCIS doesn't evaluate shot records from your GP back in the UK. That's up to medical doctors who sign off on form DS-3025 or I-693.  You missed the boat on Form DS-3025 by not getting your shots before your visa medical or paying the clinic to give them the day you were there. Now you must get signed off on immunisations on an I-693 by a civil surgeon.

This is an old thread, but people list places that would do the immunisation page only. You'll have to scroll through a lot of pages but you might find a civil surgeon close enough to you.

Actually I have a follow up question: I haven't received an RFE about the medical having the missing vaccination - I'm just in the habit of thinking I've missed something on the application and know I had the missing 2 shots after the medical - will I have been sent an RFE if there was a problem with the sealed medical info? Or will they have not opened and checked the medical info until my interview?

AND

Does the new i-693 transcription of the vaccinations need to be in a sealed envelope?

You won't get RFE for medical since medical is not required at the moment of filing. But you must take it to the interview. Check your DS3025, does it say complete?

It will be in your file and the interviewing officer will look at it on the day of your interview. It's not sealed. It was opened at POE. Remember the white envelope?

See the instructions for the I-693 page 1. This topic will walk you through it.

How Do I File Form I-693?

You can wait until your interview and let the officer give you an RFE. Or you can go to your interview with the I693 already signed off so there is no additional delay getting your greencard.

It doesn't say complete, it says "candidate opted not to be vaccinated at time of exam" - and then they gave me a letter with two vaccination highlighted and told me to get these done, and get a transcript from my doctor of them and then to present that at my greencard interview.

Yeah the white envelope! I remember that!

I've called a few dr's in NYC and haven't found one yet that will transcribe the vaccination record, they all seem to want to give me a full medical.

You can try somewhere else. There's a list here in the forum with doctors that do only the vaccination transcription. I think there's one here in Stamford, CT, which is only 50min away from NYC.

Thats worth a try - any chance you have a link to that list? I've had a look through and couldn't find it at first glance
