Im totally fuming at this whole process!!! Just got a message that my step daughter doesn't qualify for I-864W and to send in new financial papers.  She does qualify because her father is now a citizen since July 2019 and she is only 10. She was 5 at the time of our marriage!!  What the heck is wrong with these people??? Guess I will try and contact a tier 2 rep to see if I can get some help.  Been waiting since November 7, 2019 to hear something.  My poor girl is gonna cry her heart out that it's gonna take even longer to get her here 😡:ranting:

Update:  So after being told weeks ago to use the I-864W now they are saying I have to use the I-864 and I-864A since I was the original petitioner (USC stepparent) even though my husband is now a citizen. They said she is still eligible for citizenship once she gets here but because it is in the system as me petitioning as stepparent I have to redo the forms.  What a big waste of time!!!!!  If they had given correct info in the beginning I wouldn't have to tell my baby girl she has to wait longer.

I just submitted the W-2 docs they asked from me minutes ago. I hope that since those are US documents and the other stuff I submitted were accepted already that they won't take too long to also validate that, but I have my doubts. Prove me wrong, NVC! LOL. 😂

when did you submit your documents? :)

Who gave you that information? Someone from NVC on the phone? Because on the NVC website it does say if you are a stepparent you can’t submit the I864W. That really sucks! They should give correct information. I hope this time they review your documents faster!!!

Yep someone at NVC. I called just to verify before submitting because I knew I as the stepparent couldn't use it.  My husband became a citizen after I had already submitted her papers so I wanted to know if I could send the I-864W instead.  It seemed crazy to have to send all the financial documentation since she will be a citizen when she gets here.  Guess it's too much for them to use their brains that she doesn't fall under any financial requirements now that he is a citizen.  Oh well...can't change it so I'm going with the flow.  Submitted all new docs a little while ago.

Yes, I'm wondering if I can fill everything out on my wife behalf.

Technically no, because the visa applicant (beneficiary) has to acknowledge that the information Provided by Them within DS260 is true and correct when submitting it.. it’s a declaration, therefore you can’t without power of attorney..

Edit

i guess legally, you could fill it out online, hit save then have her login review it and then submit it

Hi guys has anyone else changed their embassy? Or have read anything on it? I sent the request in Nov and today they emailed me confirming the change I’m just wondering if it’ll make them take longer now/start over ? I guess there’s no way of really knowing is there 😑 (I submitted docs 12/18.....embassy went from panama to Nicaragua)
