Yes, we have original chats that our lawyer submitted before we got married. New chats from recently we have western union slips from money I have sent him..we cant have a joint bank account since I've never lived in Nigeria and he has never lived here. But we used western union alot so we have that documentation. I screen shoted alot of facebook messages and posts between us too. Our WhatsApp calls and messages ect too. And of course lots and lots of pictures from both trips.

I’m the US born citizen and my husband is Nigerian. My husband Always  Sent Me money via western union and I didn’t have to provide proof of none of that. Our visa is approved.

I said this above. However if you feel you need extra evidence, then those are items you can bring.

Sure we know the legitimacy of our marriages but we still have to prove that to a third party who is going to be as objective as possible.

Yes me him our whole family friends know we are legit. But in any case you have to prove. So I just want to make sure I have good and correct evidence. I may be more nerveous and I've always been a bit of a worrier and over thinker.  I'm working on that though lol. Thank You ALL for the support, and encouragment. my husband is the calm of the two of us. He is sitting there not concerned at all. We balance eachother out haha.

So my husband and I met in 2017, got married almost a year later in 2018 on first meeting. Then I flew back over before our application had been aproved through USCIS in summer of 2019, and bout another ticket to fly back to see him beginning of february(it so happens we recieved our interview letter two days after I bought ticket so I'll get to be with him for interview! WHOO HOO!)

I was wondering if that is enough time of visits? I'm just NOW discovering how important visits are and how much they show bonafide relationship. We miss eachother so much I would have lived there or gone more visits of we had the money to do so but we simply could not afford so many tickets.

Do you guys feel 3 visits is a good amount? We are Nigeria.

At this point it doesn't matter. 3 visits 100 visits every case is different. Just go and enjoy and stay positive. Unless you have issues with your case. Red Flags, skeletons ion closet there isn't really anything to worry about. Just relax. Have a nice trip.

Guys, has anyone been asked at a visa interview to show old chats?

The only conversations me and my husband has had are calls and chats over WhatsApp, do I really have to take a print of those or is jus photos and wedding album enough?

sure some do. But if you sent a good petition package (Frontload) to USCIS you shouldn't be asked for nothing. They usually only ask for those when they have people who didn't send hardly any quality evidence.

You didn't submit western union money transfers did you? Please do not take those to the interview. That may work in Philippines for a man sending to a woman but NO way will it help you as a woman sending to an African man. That is a Na wa o. Take it out.

Also that's not true about joint accounts. Me and my husband opened a Domiciliary account in Enugu and we money deposited there to this day 4 years later (he still has drivers working for him there).

Honestly for  spouse living abroad joint anything matters not you don;t live together. Your #1 proof is visits you have done that the longer the better of course. Nothing you can do about it now you will be there for interview and they will ask him "when last you seen your wife" and he can say "she's outside". That's that.

It is definitely possible to add a non-resident alien spouse to a bank account. Check with your bank’s rules and process. I added my husband to my US bank accounts back before we started this whole process. They wanted copies of his passport since he had never stepped foot in the US and didn’t have any alien or social security numbers. The US based bank sent the signature cards and we signed in front of a public notary and we sent them back to the bank.

He’s been added to my credit cards as an authorized user and we applied for a joint apartment lease application remotely too.

Just be open and ask your bank, landlord, credit cards, etc how the process works.

Great advice. I added my  husband also to all my credit cards and he had a credit score to go buy a car 6 months after he arrived.

Bank of America is very Immigrant friendly. That's where we have a joint account and Navy Federal.

you don’t need any bank statements or chat conversation. You are over killing the process. If your marriage is legit, it’s legit. Wedding photos and few questions about your spouse is all you need.

So true. Bank accounts and comingling of finances is for Removal of conditions. Couples that live together.

Thanks Debbie for all questions answered. You really know your stuff. And I used No lawyer. My husband was really proud of me for that.

Way to go. Proud of you too. Now all that money you  saved not needing a lawyer a nice honeymoon exotic. :)

Why is that? My laywer said any proof of money being exchanged is good proof.  The way the currency is in Nigeria it's pointless for him to send me money. The exchange rate is horrible and he could send me two months worth of his salary(he works at the university of Nsukka as lab professor) and it wouldn't even pay all my rent lol. I told him not to.

We looked into getting a domiciliary account as we are working on building a home on land there he owns as a second home so we can return and visit when we want. But for right now it is too expensive for us to have at the moment. Would rather wait until we are together to open that and use once we can travel back and forth together. I'm saying I was told by lawyer that if my husband and i had ever lived together than it would be a red flag to immigration that we dont have anything joint but because we have never loved together it is not so concerning to them.
