Congrats!  We got DQ on Jan 8, 2020 after waiting 7 weeks.  We're waiting now for the Sydney interview notification.  If we use your timeline as an estimate, we should get the IL by mid-to-late February and maybe have the interview in early March.  Here's hoping I get an early birthday present. 🤞

We filed ROC (Removal of Conditions) 19 months ago. And filed for Citizenship 8 months ago.

Thank you for the info. I'm trying to find all this out now so i have an idea going forward when my spouse is here. Is there a reason the condition removal takes so long? So from your reply you can start filing for your spouse to become a citizen even when you are waiting for the removal of conditions ( as long as it's been 3 years of your LPR status)? 

 

Is this all the same for a spouse that isn't a citizen and they are also just a LPR if after 3 years of their spouses LPR the spouse can file for citizenship even if the person that filed for them isn't a citizen themselves? I was told that if you are a permanent resident filing for your spouse the whole process takes about 3 years start to finish so doesn't that give them an upper hand cuz there spouse is always going to be issued a 10 year green card and don't have to go though any process of getting conditions removed.

i am probably overthinking this, but for the interview it says bring a photocopy of tax returns, so can i use the same copy we scanned and sent to NVC? I don't have the originals, and i'm wondering if my husband will need to send them to me?

No, spouses of US citizens only can file for naturalization after 3 years, I’m pretty sure spouses of LPRs must wait 5 years

  Ok, I'm so confused... we need to bring the same DQ documents that we uploaded to the NVC that was also sent to the embassy for the interview? 

 

My husband already has a ...

1. Certified copy of my birth certificate
2. Notarized copy of my passport biographic page
3. Certified copy of our marriage certificate
4. Certified copy of my divorce 
5. His original police report
6. His original birth certificate
7. His passport
8. His passport pictures

From the documents you submitted at NVC you need the originals of some documents plus a photocopy and just the photocopy of others.  There’s a checklist. I’m not sure if it’s the same for every embassy but it probably is.  You do need the I864 and tax return and W2 if you sent them.
