Where can fiance start getting needed vaccinations?

My fiance and step son have no shot records.  We know they will need some.

I'd like to start getting some done before we have to pay the Medical examiner fees.

I'm not familiar with health services in Vietnam, and my fiance does go to Saigon routinely (but she is a 4 hour train ride away).

Anyone have a tip that I can tell her where to go for these required shots?

Thanks!

You have to get a medical exam first, before they will send you to get vaccines. You have to do it in that order. In case she has no records, they can run titers (blood tests checking for antibodies) and can tell which ones they have had already and which ones missing.

There are only two places she can get a medical exam done in Saigon. I recommend Cho Ray Hospital because the people at the other place is kinda, well, stuck-up. But whichever is convenient for her.

Cho Ray Hospital (CRH) Visa Medical Department

201B Nguyen Chi Thanh, Ward 12, District 5, HCMC

Tel: (84-28) 3856 5703

Website: www.choray.vn

The International Organization for Migration (IOM)

HCMC 1B Pham Ngoc Thach, District 1, HCMC

Tel: (84-28) 38222057

Website: http://vietnam.iom.int

And there is only one place she can get vaccinated:

After having completed the medical examination, applicants are required to receive vaccinations. Fees for vaccinations depend on your age and the required vaccinations. Bring all of your vaccination records with you to one of the below immunization providers to receive your vaccinations:

Quarantine Service – Ho Chi Minh City

40 Nguyen Van Troi, Phu Nhuan District, HCMC

Tel: (84-28) 3844 5306

These are the only places that are approved by the Consulate in HCMC. Do not go to any other places that she heard her great aunt or uncle said it was ok, or any other places that advertises "we can do this for immigration". There are tons of those out there.

So you're saying even if my fiance/step son had a full card of up to date vaccinations the examiner will ignore those and require new ones??

"And there is only one place she can get vaccinated:"

For the medical exam this specifically use "designated".  For shots they use " to one of the below immunization providers".

This is  a little confusing how its worded.

Do not get any vaccinations ahead of time.  Any that are needed will be administered at the medical.

Cho Ray, IOM and Quarantine Service is the only place has been approved by Embassy. If you took vaccinated anywhere else, it will be rejected.

No immunizations are NEEDED for a K1.  Only AOS.

My search shows, that in 2018:

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2018AnnualReport/FY18AnnualReport - TableXX.pdf

212(a)(1)(A)(ii) Immigrant lacking required vaccinations  ZERO non-immigrant visa were denied.

So the immunization lie seems to be stronk.

If you do the immunizations with the medical that is one less thing that needs done for AOS, if you AOS in the first year.

If my fiance/step son has a reaction, I am not there, nor do they have the benefit of the US Healthcare system.  No, this is not a debate, I'll take a 1st world system over any other.

Cost:  she can get most of these shots for free from the State/Federal gov't.  Also, once married, your health insurance will cover many, for free.

The medical exam for the K1 is a joke.  Its not an exam, its a screening.  Completely different levels of care.

Most health plans provide for a free annual physical that includes blood screens, for free.  So while I'll get to pay $500 for two  sham 'screening' I can get two free, actual exams on my health insurance.

And on the plus plus side, now the family is in my health providers system... meaning all that information is not going to be lost on paper cards.

This needs some citation.  Nothing I have read is REQUIRING a certain hospital/facility for vaccinations.  So if my wife and son were full up to date, they will just throw away the immunization record and require all new shots?

They will based on the records and will give your fiance any shots which required for the visa. Also, there is no clarification because Quarantine Services,  Cho Ray , and IOM was only 3 places got approved from embassy. You want the visa, then you have to play by their rules.

https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/medical-examination-and-vaccination/

that the link from embassy website. You can take a look. Please don't go to any places not on the list even the price is cheaper.

Good luck.

And then pay to have a civil surgeon transcribe onto the I693.   Pick your poison

From a little research it looks like a CS office can do a simple 'transcription' for I693 for as little as $30.

I'll have my fiance start to call around and see what prices are (they will both need full work ups).  If its not to much then I'll have them do in in Vietnam.  Otherwise once we're married my health insurance will cover almost every one, for free.

You don't seem to realize that THERE ARE NO REQUIRED VACCINATIONS FOR THE K-1 VISA.

I even posted the USCIS 2018 stats that showed that ZERO non-immigrant visa's were denied due to incomplete vaccinations.

212(a)(1)(A)(ii) Immigrant lacking required vaccinations  ZERO non-immigrant visa were denied.

This is a guideline for CS and how to interpret / required immunization records.  The highlights:

The following is a list of diseases for which applicants must show proof of having age-appropriate vaccinations or immunity for adjustment of status for US permanent residence...

Note this is for AOS or PR.  Not K-1 visas.

Review of Vaccination Records

The civil surgeon should instruct the applicant to submit all available written records of vaccination history for review. Acceptable vaccination documentation must come from a vaccination record, either a personal vaccination record or a copy of a medical chart with entries made by a physician or other appropriate medical personnel. Only those records of vaccine doses that include the dates of receipt (month, day, and year) are acceptable. The document must not appear to have been altered, and dates of vaccinations should seem reasonable. Self-reported vaccine doses without written documentation are not acceptable.  Civil surgeons must document all acceptable vaccination and relevant immunity on the Form I-693 according to USCIS instructions

I think a hospital form with the required information is more than enough.  I also don't believe that a person with a complete immunization record is going to be told 'lol no, do it all over again'.  MAYBE there will be a titter to check for antibodies... but a complete redo?  I'm not so sure.  And no one has ever said that they had to.

That the link for K1/K2 visa. K1/K2 is dual intent visa, so VACCINATIONS  IS REQUIRED. The record for these vaccinations will need for AOS later. We are here as members already going through this process, and give you advise on what we know.
