Hello! I had submitted a review in "Embassy Info/India/Chennai" section, see other details there!

<<how much it's gonna cost ?>>

Rs 800 lab tests, Rs 700 doctor's fees. My guy had MMR and Varicella vaccinations totaling an additional Rs 1,500. BUT we JUST NOW found out that the MMR and Varicella requires a SECOND dose (a few weeks after first dose). Try to get that in India because here it is expensive (Varicella is $105 at local cheap govt clinic!). Now he has to get the second doses here in USA before we can file for AOS! :(

<<when do you suggest me to travel chennai for medical ?>>

To be safe, why not at least 3 days before you have to submit papers to VFS.

<<do i have to submit medical reports as well at VFS office with my packet 3/4 ?>>

Better if you do, YES! But in case you can't, you can submit with the interview.

<<how many days does it take for the medical examination including the lister lab's report and physicians report?>>

That took only one day for my guy, morning lab tests, evening receiving lab results and going to Dr. Sanjan John. The doc visit took only about an hour (including waiting) and doc handed over all paperwork to my guy UNSEALED (so copies could be made of all). I don't know if other docs give the paperwork in hand immediately, they may mail direct to the Consulate. Only problem was that this doc refused to give vaccinations or fill out the vaccination suppliment, he said no vaccinations should be given for K1 applicants! However you can get the vaccinations at any local doc I think, to be used for AOS here. Just get the documentation that you had it done.

<<any particular physician close to lister laboratory ?>>

Our doc Sanjan John is only about 10 min from the lab. The other docs listed in Chennai packet are also near the lab.

thanks a bunch for the info.

do i have to take an appointment with lister's lab or physician ?

do you think it is okay, if i plan to fly on 2nd july, first flight to chennai at 5.50am in the morning from hyderabad , visit the lister's lab by 8am , collect reports by 4.30 pm , visit the physician by 5:30-6:00pm ,and take the return flight ticket same day ? (assuming that the medical examination finishes by 7:00pm same day )

<<do i have to take an appointment with lister's lab or physician ?>>

No appointment at the lab necessary. Only call the doctor and make an appointment.

I think it is OK if you take the first flight to Chennai, you will have enough time to get the lab work done, pick it up and go to the doctor. Only contact the doctor before and explain you have to catch a flight back to Hyderabad. He should accommodate you and see you first in the evening. My fiance said there were a few of them waiting outside in the evening, it took some time before the doctor finally opened the door.
