Photocopies for interview documents

Hi all - We are prepping the documents for the interview. This site: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/

says: You are required to obtain the original or certified copy, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) of the following documents for yourself and each family member applying for a visa.

Do we need a photocopy of everything below except the bolded items? Do I need to send my EOS via mail to him by me printing it out then a photocopy? That seems aggressive. Also for the PC, a photocopy of the actual certificate? I assume for the DS-160, we can print two of it and that works?

This is the list applying to my fiance and I for documentation for the interview: (The other items on the list do not apply to us)

1.      Passport (Do not need photocopy)

2.      Photographs: Two color photographs (2x2) – (Do not need photocopy)

3.      Birth Certificate: Original copy with both parent’s names on it (Make photocopy)

4.      Police Certificate (Make photocopy)

5.      Evidence of Support – I-134 (CK to send my original version and photocopy?

)

6.      Printed out DS-160 confirmation page, interview date and MRV payment of $265 (visa payment)

London will not ask you for photocopies of anything despite what their website says. That has been reported in this UK forum countless times. They used to do that when they filed the paper photocopies. They have streamlined their process over the last few years and scan documents now instead of having all those paper photocopies.

The London website changes from time to time and sometimes leaves old things in. When various people went to their interview with photocopies, they reported they were told "Oh we don't need those anymore".

The old way (in case you are nervous) was to bring a photocopy of any document you needed/wanted back. Otherwise they kept your original for the file.  So he would want back his birth certificate, police certificate, and others would want back their original divorce decrees or military records.

The I-134 is something you filled out and is probably saved on your computer so not something you really need back as you could print out a new copy at any time, not that you will ever need it again. Your proof of income for the I-134 can be sent to your fiancé as a photocopy anyway so you keep any originals with you of pay stubs, tax returns, W2s, or whatever you are using to prove income. You wouldn't need those photocopies back because you still have the originals in the US.  London now actually accepts everything to do with the I-134 including the signed form as a scan you could email and he could print to take to his interview.

Thank you very much for the follow up, that makes sense. In this day of age mostly anything can be sent via email or scanned. We may make photocopies anyways, but we bring the original files to the interview, they scan them there/after, then return all the docs at the interview or with the approved passport?

They give back your original documents (his birth certificate) after they verify it and before you leave the interview. Some have received their police certificate back with the returned passport instead of at the interview.  I never needed my police certificate again, but people with any kind of police record will need documentation later down the road for immigration.

We will get the approved passport/visa in the mail correct, not at the interview as they have stamp it?

They don't "stamp" it. They print a visa that is the size of a full passport page and glue it over one of the pages in his passport.

As far as delivery, I'm going to let you go back and find that information for yourself on the embassy K1 instructions. You either forgot or didn't read all those links. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/

HINT: It's number 5. Processing Times and Return of Passport

Yes, I knew that they only send it via delivery post but your comment made me question because above you said they can give it to you at interview.

Your passport will be returned to you by the Embassy approved courier service.  To ensure that there are no delays with the delivery, you must register with courier at the time you schedule the appointment for the visa interview.
