Hi,

I would like to know how long it takes after the interview for the visa to be issued and ready to pick it up at the consulate. I’m not opting for have it delivered to my house.

Thank you guys,

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Generally, your passport will be ready for pickup within 3-7 business days. Some people get it faster, some people get it later. Bear in mind that end of year holidays might cause some delays, tho.

Good luck with your immigration journey.

My interview will take place on 3rd March 2020 in Rio de Janeiro. I was just wondering how long it would take. I might stay a whole week in Rio since it will be around Carnaval.

Since you are choosing to pick it up in person....I would plan to stay longer than a week.

If everything goes well and there are no hiccups, then you should get it returned 1-2 weeks maximum. If there's AP, it may take longer. You should always give yourself time though, you can never tell.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.

Knowing Brazil, I wouldn't be surprised if picking up your passport during carnaval will be difficult, even though it is the US consulate.

You'd also pick it up at CASV, where you'll do your finger printing.

We didn't. João's medical required extra labs that took over 6 weeks after the interview. He ended up having it mailed to him.
