I haven't posted in a while but it's good to see people are getting interviews and same day oath. I filed in NYC but I moved to Virginia so my case is with the Norfolk Field office. I don't know what is going on at that office but no interview as yet and myucis says the standard, we are taking longer than expected ...

If anyone know anything about Norfolk, let me know. Congrats and good luck to everyone still waiting, we are almost there.

PS, can the person who have access to the spreadsheet change my field office to Norfolk? Thank you.

I had my "Naturalization Ceremony" today. (06/26/20200) It took only 20 minutes and 4 other person with me.

Returned the green card at check-in.

Usually, watch video and sing a national anthem, but since it is a pandemic, family members not allowed, the officer read the Oath for us and gave the “Naturalization Certificate” to each person, check the contents and signed. that is all.

I want to update my Social Security record, but since the Social Security offices has suspended face-to-face service nationwide, so I have to wait until the offices re-open. then register to Vote and apply for a US Passport as well.

Congratulations LA&MA, this crazy journey for you is over.

Hello everyone!

I am finally starting my citizenship process. I have a question regarding which category should I use- I have had green card for 5 years and got it through marriage to a US citizen. SO, should I apply as the '3 year marriage to US citizen' or 'having a green card for 5 years or more'?  Or does it really matter which one I choose?

Thank you!!

Hi, you should post questions in the general citizenship group. In this group, we’re “only” the people that already filed in January :)

You apply under 5 year rule if you have received your Greencard more than 5 years ago. Good luck!

In my experience you want to go for 5Y. The processing seems to be slightly quicker and you don’t need to show as much evidence. I made the mistake of applying for 3Y even though I was within  90days of 5Y.

I was just thinking about you... congratulations! Great news for you. We were approved at interview, but no indication yet of when the oath ceremony would be conducted.

All the best!

I'm getting restless. Tampa isn't usually so slow, and with COVID cases on the rise I'm worried that im going to be postponed again if I get rescheduled.

Question: My GC expires November 2021, if my citizenship hasn't taken place by June 2021, am I right in thinking I would have to renew my GC despite having a citizenship case pending?

I believe that is the case. The guidance I was given was that if naturalization is not imminent, you should renew your GC beginning 180 days and no later than 90 days out from expiry.
