Newark, NJ  fillers, please any update or change or interviews or anything? Thanks 🙏🏽

Nothing here, had Senator Booker inquire and they said that they are currently taking 14-18 months. Are you in the N400 Newark/Mt Laurel group? There are more folks with earlier PDs which makes it a bit easier to follow when your time may come.

Hi guys! Wow - it's been ages since the last time I was here. Here we are again, probably the last hurrah in this immigration journey. A lot has changed since 2014 when I first came to the US and fast forward to today, I received my interview date (Jan 6th!). Am I the only one who never reviewed while waiting for the interview date? Because now I feel like cramming! Anyway, I wish everyone good luck and God bless!

BTW, does anyone know how I update my "quote" so I can update my timeline? Thanks a bunch!

They are slower than other locations/offices because they cover multiple states and relatively less staffed to do that. More work and less staff. But bottom line, they are slower.  From what I have been seeing is they invited at least 3 people the month they applied the following year (people who live in Minnesota). So, assuming they continue to be at the same speed, I would expect them to invite you for an interview in January and that's assuming they have no other issues with your file.  I have also noticed that they have been getting even slower lately so that can take even longer.

In regards to the invalid date, I have the same thing... and I think they just don't want to give you the impression that they are close to finish when they are actually not.

The current estimate of processing time is 13.5 months for being done with 50% of the applicants they have in the office. Meaning, at that rate, they are not even close to be done with 50% of the applicants since you applied in January. According to that estemate, in March of 2021. they are expecting to process half of their applicant (50% of the applicants).

I hope that helps. Keep us posted if you hear anything from them or any updates on your profile!

I have the same verbiage , including the "invalid date"... but I dont have an estimated date of completion!?   Just says it taking longer than normal... blah blah blah!? Im a Oct 22, 2019 filer in Newark NJ...

When my wife had her N-400 interview, the I751 was pending. The officer didn't mention the 751, but the next day the 751 showed approved.

Do my wife need to be with me for N400 interview? The situation is that my wife moved to Texas earlier this year due to her job and I stayed here due to my job situation and I intend to stay here for another 2 or 3 months before my contract ends. Would that be red flag considering we do not live together for about 8 months although I did visit my wife and our kids couple of times during that 8 months?

I was not allowed inside the building when she went in for the interview.
With the restrictions New York has right now, I don't think your wife would be allowed inside either. Also, it wouldn't make sense to have to quarantine for 3 days to go to a 30 minute interview. Maybe make sure she is available to facetime or video chat at the time of the interview.
Have a copy of your employment contract, if possible, and a copy of her job offer. That should be enough to explain why you do not reside together right now.

yeah that is what I was thinking too. Due to COVID restriction in NY, I was not able to visit my family as much as I would love too. She already booked a flight from Texas just to come here for interview and we will fly back on the same day once done with N400 interview. We would leave our kids to her grandparents because we dont want to risk our kids for Covid exposure. I wish if they could let me talk to Case officer so I can explain them situation?I would prefer my wife not to come due to Covid exposure but what if Case officer would ask where is my spouse then I am kinda stuck?Do you think they would do face time or videochat? Is there anyway I can just go inside the field office prior to N400 Interview to explain them my situation?

I would try going to the field office, especially if it is in your city. (Our field office was 2 hours away.) It is probably easier to get in the office than get the phone number for the field office. You can at least find out if your wife would even be allowed inside for the interview.

My field office is literally 15 min away from where I resides. I'll definitely try to go and see if they can let me talk to Officer. I just spoke with USCIS customer services and were told for N400 interview, spouse do not need to be there but when I told him that my I751 case is also pending too to which he responded that wait for I751 notice that would states whether spouse need to be there or not?My interview would be conducted within 4 weeks and I don't think Ill get any news about I751 case?

I have been told by my congressman’s office that almost always they will do combo interview when there is I-751 pending. I would say that regardless of update on I-751, take your spouse if that’s possible. We have pending ROC so we plan to go together and wait in lobby if they won’t allow me inside.
