Thinking of going for 3 or 5 weeks, nov to dec, am sure for a Newark filler I will be getting interviewed by Next year. God help me. But am still confused 🤷🏽‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♀️. Thinking 🤔

i have a Covid canceled tickets already with the airline, and if I can’t go by April 2021, my money 💰 will go to waste.

so I will go early and come back early, I think 🤔

One other thing to think about: I heard that for example Germany was just declared a high risk country and coming in from Germany they won’t let you in if you’re not American. I don’t know if they account for permanent residents as well or not? I personally gonna wait with traveling abroad until my USCIS process is done.

What @jamrep says is 100% correct. I just traveled back from Germany on September 6th and had no issues whatsoever :)

Exact same for me. Divorced in 2017 and no interview.

I don’t want to go into what she’d asked me because it’s too personal. She just wanted to know everything about the divorce. Every detail and the exact timeframe.

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. I just got a bad apple out of the bunch. And she approved me after all. So I assume if the marriage is for real they can’t prove you otherwise.

but actually does somebody know what happens if they deny you if they think you are a fraud? I wondered about that too!?

I am so happy and excited for you. You are finally over with this whole process and soon to become a US citizen! I am sorry that you had to go through a rough final experience, definitely uncalled for.

I also divorced my spouse after I realized that she wasn't faithful about 4 years ago. My GC was approved without an interview (very exiting day, after going through all the worst case scenarios) (I wrote an affidavit when I submitted the removal of conditions giving them every single detail of our relationship. I ended up writing over 70 pages and that whole process was painful as I had to remember everything and then write it down). I have a copy of the affidavit and I have tried to read it but I get anxious re-living that experience again. And so when I read how rude the officer was to you, I fear to have a similar experience and that they will try to ask me every detail that I wrote to confirm if my relationship was real or not even though I am submitting my citizenship request on the 5 year basis instead of marriage. I also have proof that our relationship and marriage was real but I don't want to feel like I have to proof with my answers whether I entered that relationship for my own benefit and to fear that my application could be denied if the officer doesn't believe what I am saying. I already went through that I was hoping that that feeling was over.

I truly hope that that's not the case during my interview and that the officer can see through everything that I have submitted and done to proof that. Anyways, I will definitely share my experience to others with similar experiences on what to expect during this process.

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews!

We're almost done! Mine is on October 13th. Congratulations to everybody who passed their interview and also had their oath ceremony :)

Congrats! Almost there! Only 13 days now :)

I have my interview on November 2nd so I still have a few weeks to go before the finish line. I am glad to see that oath ceremonies aren't too far away.

I think that if you’re denied because they suspect fraud that you would need to appear before an immigration judge.  USCIS would present their case of why it seems fraudulent, and then the applicant would present their case on why it is not.

At common law, the burden of proof is different for civil and criminal matters.  I think immigration would fall more towards civil and the burden of proof would lie more heavily with USCIS to demonstrate it IS fraud (though the applicant should have good proof that it isn’t), but the judge can decide one way or the other on a balance of probabilities, in other words if you looked at the case percentage-wise, the judge would need to side at least 51% with either the applicant or USCIS.

I’m not totally confident in my answer bc I haven’t met or read any stories about that process, but from the official documents, it seems like that would be the procedure.

It’s also time consuming and costly to pursue immigration matters in court, so I reasonably assume USCIS only takes that route when there is an abundance of red flags on a case, and no clear and definitive (or even reasonable) answers to address the concerns.

I had my interview yesterday at Detroit office I applied on 3years marriage basis and the experience was not good at all. She was very rude from the start. When I gave her my driving license as an id proof she asked me what is this? Don't you have state id? I said this is my driving license which she accepted. She asked me why you want to change your name are you getting divorce? I said no, I just like my old name, and then she asked me why you like your maiden name better? I said I just like it and now I'm getting an opportunity to have my old name back so I'm doing it. Then she took my test which I passed easily it hardly took 15 minutes. After the test she said to me, Now I'm going to ask you some questions.. I said ok and then she started to ask about my marriage she ask me weird questions regarding my marriage. She ask me why are you going to another state? I told her because our aunt lives there I visited her with my husband because she was sick . She asked me some questions which I didn't find relevant for my naturalization interview like she asked about my husband's aunt ( is she married?).
At the end she gave me form N-625 which said "A decision cannot yet be made about your Application"
I showed her every proof joint bank account, tax returns car registration, car insurance. Now I'm so stressed out. I don't know how long it's going to take now.

Sorry to hear it. I would really recommend getting a lawyer. Many people might think it's not necessary and useless. But I disagree. Lawyer seats next to you. If there are some irrelevant questions, the lawyer will ask to stop asking those questions. Get the lawyer and make her to come with you next time.

Its so weird, why do you need a state ID if you have a driver license? And they have all things already before the interview. They review it before you even show up there. Lady did not have mood or something.

Is she going to deny my application?

I do not think so. I am not sure about the process in such case. One of my friend from IL, 2 kids, living with her husband for 3 years, had such situation or similar. They asked her to bring more evidences that she lives with her husband to make a decision. So maybe they will ask you something like that.

Do not worry, sometimes we meet mad women. You will get some notice what to do. I am pretty sure they will ask you to bring more evidences. Did you get tax transcript from 2019?

I brought it for the interview.
