Processign time delays

So I had a Green Card through my spouse for first 2 years and then we have filed now for removal of conditions.

It has been over a year now and we now have an extension letter for 18 months till USCIS is working on it's backlog.

 

My question was does this time count towards my road to citizenship? Meaning that can I apply for citizenship after 3 years are completed regardless of the permanent green card?

Yes  but you can file N-400 after 2 years and 9 months  from the date of first green card approval but N-400 will not be approved until your conditions green card becomes permanent one

Hopefully you will get a combo interview.

 

Your interview will be at a field office not a consulate like the DCF interview.

As the others have said, the time counts as you do not stop being an LPR when you file the ROC.  A lot of folks, my wife included, have filed the N400 with a pending ROC.  Here is a thread and it’s continuation that may be helpful.

Actually, it's 90 days prior to the 3 year anniversary.  There have been cases rejected because they filed a day early.
