Hi guys,

We need to submit tax transcript with i846. IRS website lets you download only masked/redacted version of tax transcripts. Is NVC OK with the redacted version or they ask for unmasked/unredacted version. Has anyone recently submitted masked version without getting RFE

Thanks

Don't they have one that's specifically for immigration purposes?

Thanks for quick reply.  I am not sure.  I will ask my wife to login and check.  I just visited IRS  website and read faqs.  If they already have one for immigrations then I guess there is no problem.

Thanks

Perfect.  Thank you very much.  I am newbie on this forum.  Is there a way to mark this thread solved?

That pull down is just to tell them the reason you need the transcript.  You need a Tax Return Transcript.  Redactions would defeat the purpose of providing the transcript.

Thanks. I guess we shall request unmasked version just to be on safe side.

I would call them ASAP to request this version. I did the same and it took a good 15 days to receive in the mail.

My wife had already requested one version through snail male via there website but since it is automated process i am not sure they are gonna send masked or unmasked version. So just to be extra cautious we called them again at 1-800-908-9946 and were told system is under maintenance and they asked us to call again on Thursday. So i guess on Thursday we will specifically request for unmasked version. My only worry is on their website it is written this no1-800-908-9946 is automated service, so will we be able to speak to human or they will automatically sent whatever version their procedure dictates?

Its not mentioned anywhere (which i could find) that snail mail version (requested via website or phone) is unmasked.

Thanks

Not sure of that number, this is the one I called from their website: 800-829-1040 . Expect spending a good 30 minutes on hold.

the copy I received from this number was ‘unmasked’ .

I submitted a masked version to NVC and did not get an RFE.

Per IRS:

Will I be able to tell if it's my information on the transcript?

Anyone with a need to know will be able to identify the person associated with the transcript. The SSN on a transcript will show last four digits, an individual name will show the first four letters.

Also, you can go in to any IRS office and get this same day.  You don't NEED to call or download online.  Just go stand in a line for a bit.

I used the same transcripts when applied for my Neutralization. No issues at all and shouldn't be any issue for you.

We submitted the masked version and everything was just fine. The interview is scheduled for 1/7. From what I have read online the masked versions are accepted for everything now, from buying a house to immigration purposes.
