Help needed!!! Approved but administrative proceessing!!!

Hi everyone. My sister had an immigrant visa interview (CR1) on 18th November 2019 in Islamabad pakistan. The interview went well visa officer asked her few questions.. checked original nikah nama and pics and in the end kept the passport and congratulated her that her visa is approved and she will get her passport in 2/3 weeks. She was neither Given any form 221g nor mentioned that there was further administrative processing needed but now its been almost 6 weeks and when she checks the status it says administrative processing. Her case status updated twice after 15 days of the interview Does anyone know how long it will take? If they had to put her in administrative processing why didn’t they mention at the interview or asked any additional documents?

It’s impossible to know why they were put into AP, although it’s not uncommon with Pakistan due to the police certificates not being trusted so manual investigations are not uncommon. Nobody can say exactly why it happened, but there’s. I thing to do but wait it out. It could be weeks, months, or longer.

 

The CO likely didn’t know if she would get extended AP or not. They can “approve” the case, but it still must complete additional checks and processing before they can issue the visa. It appears that’s where her case is - waiting for those to finish.

AP is normal and the passport was kept so that's positive, at least 🙂
