Is it snowing yet?

Well we have had snow twice so far this winter, nice today but windy.

Speaking of snow, I had some cold feet earlier today. :( I kind of broke down -- I am SO worried I am going to mess it up again, just like every other time he and I have been together. I worry I'm going to lose myself in this marriage, worry I won't be a good wife, worry he'll get bored, worry I will get so obsessed with making sure everything is perfect all the time that I will be even more neurotic than I am. He just told me to take a deep breath -- he's not going anywhere, he loves me, and everything will be the same between us after next Saturday as it is right now.

Then when I dried my tears and thanked him for being so lovely, he said, now that I've softened you up, how about that sisterwife I mentioned the other day? Might make things easier around here for you if you're so worried about making things right for me.

You're marrying not only well, but excellently, si LL ma'am.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My friend who's a lawyer had me write her a fake email pretending to be from a court reporter service giving her notice that she had been exposed yesterday to COVID-19 and needs to get tested and quarantine for two weeks so she could forward it to the guy she's been seeing. She's using it as an excuse not to see him this week, the next week and ultimately never again (he doesn't know that yet).

I feel only slightly bad about this.

Oh, I will!!  I sort of don't think about what single people are doing about dating in the time of COVID, but she's proof that things... still happen. I can't bring myself to ask about whether masking protocols are observed, social distancing, etc.

I am sure they were.

Would be criminal not to.

It's not actually a crime here though to be maskless in a private home, even between people of two different households. The cops can give you a citation for not wearing a mask in public, but from what I hear it's pretty uncommon.

I was thinking more in a Social Justice context rather than Court of Law.

It depends I think on how society views the really horny. :P :D Someone needs to think of them too!

Seriously, I guess the way to handle it is to do a distanced first date or two (or however many you need/want) and then test and isolate, then do the bubble thing with the other person. This is what we're doing right now for my wedding, even though I have zero intention to do anything more than give out hugs to everyone.

So your friend is really horny?

Apparently not enough to put up with this guy, hence the "sorry you maybe caught the COVIDZ at your deposition" fake email.

Just got my own negative result in the past 2 minutes! We are going to pack up the last bits and pieces over here when Al is done with work and head up to Burbank, the countdown begins.

Well, the die is cast. 15 years, 1 month and 2 days ago, I peeked over the back of a sofa at a boring party and found a tall, dark-haired guy squinting to read a magazine in low light and drinking out of a flask while he tried to hide from his ex. Yesterday, I married him. It was a long, long journey with a few false starts, a lot of self-doubt, two failed marriages to other people (one each), a transatlantic move, and about a year when he was living here but I was so scared of messing things up again, I wouldn't move north to be with him. I finally decided to give it one more try and it stuck. :D

Yesterday I married my best friend in front of my family and his twin sister in my parents' backyard, next to the swimming pool and in front of the little shed I used to spend hours writing in in high school. I will not lie -- this is a strange time to get married, and it was ZERO like how I'd thought the day would go. I didn't plan on drinking whisky and watching Borat 2 the night before, or eating barbecue and cupcakes for the reception. I didn't think I'd have a mobile wedding officiant (!) handle the ceremony, or instead of a wedding gown be recycling a dress I last wore to a Memorial Day Republican fundraiser in 2016 with my ex-husband.  I didn't think I'd be streaming the video to all the family members we'd have loved to have had with us. I'd thought his daughter would be there with us to hold our hands, and to have been part of our vows. :(

But it was pretty much perfect, even if it was supremely weird. We included our daughter (I now think of her as mine too, just a little) in the ceremony as best we could remotely and she even dressed up to attend by Zoom. Alex wore the most hideous tartan trousers -- some tartans are not as beautiful as others and that is ALL that I will say on that. My sister and his sister have formed an alliance to make fun of us constantly for being disgusting newlyweds. My dad cried, a lot, which made my mom cry, a lot. We took naps after the barbecue because there was a lot of champagne involved, too, followed by family movie night. And more champagne.

And now I finally I have my ring. 💍 Next stop, AOS

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Layla!

Doesn't he own a kilt?
