Nobody tells me how much I can spend on anything. That's something he and I are in perfect agreement on, and it works both ways. I may have opinions, and likewise he, but nobody sets limits on the other. We're grown up people who get to make our own choices. Joint purchases, sure. But I didn't tell him how much he could spend on the awful furniture he chose for his study. And I get to spend what I like on a dress. Even if I only wear it once. Or fifty times. :)

awww, look at you. All grown up, and no need to seek your soon-to-be husband's approval.  (Then again, it's not HIS money buying the dress, it's Voldy's, so I get it.)

But... I don't think that's how marriage is designed to work.  More of a compromise sort of thing, historically.

To be fair the practical side of me couldn't stand the thought of spending a lot of money on an item I only wear once. But we both wanted something special for both of our families to remember. Wedding dresses can be gotten at a good discount if you know what to look for, and that's what I did. I had two dresses in mind - one I had my eye on for years, and the second was a clean and simple dress that I think I could have worn anywhere. The problem was my husband hated dress no. 2. He just didn't think it was 'special' enough and I remember him arguing with me that under no circumstances would I get this. I did try it on, but in the end I listened to him as I didn't have anyone else to offer an opinion at the time. My sister insisted that the train of the dress I picked had to be pinned up and that required costly alterations I hated. Ultimately, on the day it became a fiasco and no one could figure out how to pin it, so I got my way by fate and let it down anyway. I still think about dress no. 2 and wonder if I was right to listen to my husband, but really everything is mostly a blur now - I didn't even get to see what I looked like that day until it was all over!

Felt like I was back at the pews for "you're in an open relationship, should you tell one person that you're bagging others", I said no, because its an open relationship, so why should one report these things like they're not in an open relationship? Weird.

Well, I think that one really depends on the rules the people in the open relationship have set. Some people agree that their primary partner should have approval over their would-be secondaries, some just want to be informed before the other does anything, or after the fact at least. And some don't want to know at all. This is what I learned during my short time doing online dating and meeting all these guys in open relationships who wanted to add me to their "harems." 🙄 But I agree with you that it was a weird question.

I suspect logical answers to questions like this had a detrimental effect on things like "loyalty" and "fairness".

But I can guarantee to people here I've never cheated on my wife after ten years of marriage, my two prior fiancees I broke things off with, nor any person I've been with in a monogamous relationship. It's not something I had to actually execute and learn the hard way on to know it was wrong. Even though this test thinks of my moral foundations as rotten, I'm confident that it's damn good. 😎

Funny thing too, on so many tests I score like a Libertarian, but I'm also not a Libertarian. I pride myself in the fact that neither people (with the exception to my wife and daughter) nor these tests for fun can accurately gauge what I am.
