This happened to me once.  The doctor came in and cheerfully said, "We x-rayed your head, and found NOTHING!"

Gorgeous here today -- sunny and 70 right now. As much as I'd love to be out there going for a walk on the beach, I'm doing my part to keep our curve flatter than expected.

Now that I have my 10lbs of flour, I really AM going to bake some bread today.

The wife and I just took the treat monster (our spoiled rotten yellow Lab, reference my photo) for a three and a half mile walk/run.  She, the treat monster, got very dirty, but she loves the shower.

HOW TO CLEAN A CAT

1.  Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2.  Add a requisite amount of shampoo to the toilet tank.
3.  Obtain the cat and carry him to the bathroom.

4.  In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape).  CAUTION:  Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, because his paws will be reaching out for anything he can find.

5.  Flush the toilet three or four times.  This provides a "power wash and rinse" which has been found to be quite effective.

6.  Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

7.  Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8.  The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet and run outside, where he will dry himself.

Actual conversation we had yesterday afternoon -- I had to take Alex to the orthopedist to get his shoulder looked at. He was supposed to start PT before the lockdown but that got canceled. He got a cortisone shot and is starting PT next week. Anyway, I had to wait in the car (we are borrowing my dad's car for the duration of lockdown) while he was in getting evaluated because not a patient, no admittance (good policy I think), and while we were driving home, this is basically the conversation we had.

L: So, how'd it go?

A: Good. (Explains how much the shot hurt, and the plan for PT.) After the doctor was done with me, I met the therapist. Russian woman, about our age. Seems to know what's what. I liked her.

L: Great!

A: Hmm, yes, glad you said that. I think you'll like her too.

L: Am I meeting her at some point?

A: Yes, of course. I've decided she's going to be your sister wife.

L: (silence, focusing on road)

A: Isn't this a brilliant plan?

L: No, this isn't a brilliant plan. I am not having a sister wife.

A: I thought you'd say that, sweetest, but it really is a remarkably good plan. For both of us. (Pats me on thigh.) She'll take so much of the strain off of you.

L: What kind of strain would she be relieving?

A: Oh, you know. Tidying up. Cooking. Tension relief.

L: No. No "tension relief."

A: So if there's no tension relief, you're otherwise open. Noted. Right! I'll make sure it stays very tense.

L: (silence)

A: Can we revisit tension relief when I bring the next sister wife in?

Some years ago, I came home, and this dialogue ensued:

Mrs. T-B.:  I bought you cheap.
T-B.:  What did you say?
Mrs. T-B.:  I bought you cheap.
T-B.:  You bought me cheap?  What the dickens does THAT mean? I'm not that cheap.  And don't let Immigration hear you say that!
Mrs. T-B. [frustrated]:  Cheap, CHEAP!  I bought you CHEAP!

Further investigation revealed that she had gone to the store and bought me a bag of potato cheaps, si man. :bonk:

**tap tap** is this on?

So we were talking about what we want to do when things open up again, in particular going on holiday. I am not keen on flying in the near future, so I was thinking road trip, maybe in September. A sort of pre-honeymoon. I am looking for suggestions! The initial plan was to drive back up to Berkeley for a few days and see old friends, then keep driving north. But there is SO much we haven't seen together yet in this country. We want to do about 10-12 days in total.

We want:

*Not Vegas (done Vegas a couple of time together, and while it's fun for a short visit, I want something new)

*Wineries a plus

*Something with some gorgeous vistas

*Decent food available (I am not pretentious -- I just don't want to have to rely on McDonalds every night)

We are completely open, the only restrictions being that going east of the Mississippi is going to involve a LOT of driving, more than we can handle. Suggestions for spots along the way are welcomed. We both love this country so much and are eager to see new things. He's never been east of Vegas or north of Mendocino (except for one short visit to Seattle) so this is all new for him!

You asked, we respond, si LL ma'am.

In September, the following will afford absolutely unparalleled scenery.

Get to, let's say, Crystal City, TX (ask how).

Head north on U.S. Hwy. 83 to Uvalde.

Once you hit Concan and Leakey, with the little town of Utopia nearby, you'll be floored.

This is the western edge of the Texas Hill Country.

Continue north to Junction.  From there, two equally appealing choices:

 1) Continue north on 83 to Eden, and cut NW to San Angelo or continue north to Abilene.

 2) Cut NE on 377 to Mason, then Hwy. 29 to Llano, Burnet, & Georgetown; then head south to Austin.

The Mason-Llano-Burnet run takes you through Inks Lake State Park, perhaps the most beautiful in Texas.  The Lake has a dam.  Near the dam used to be (I hope still is) a bar called "The Dam Pub."

The whole route is staggeringly gorgeous and covers a good bit of the Texas Hill Country, which is worth the visit.  You'll find really decent small-town restaurants, and you'll hit no traffic till Georgetown and (urgh) Austin.  You'll fit right in as a Texas blonde, and pre-hubby can see the largest contiguous state here in the Colonies.  You can coach him on (or ask the natives) how to say "Howdy."

For more info, holler.

Sigh, what a day. COVID19 means no more house cleaner, and now it's down to us, well, let's be honest, mostly me. I did both bathrooms and the kitchen, cleaned all the blinds in the apartment, vacuumed and did the laundry. Totally wiped me out. Then Alex had his physical therapy, and when he came back he said it had wiped HIM out and his shoulder/arm was killing him, so would I please get him some "fun" food because he needs to feel pampered. So out I went to the supermarket, because really he did look kind of miserable (even though he knows the PT is what he needs). Two tubs of Ben & Jerry's (pistachio and Americone Dream), a can of Chef Boyardee beef ravioli (ugh), a bag of frozen eggrolls, chicken nuggets (I did get the Vons organic brand with gluten-free breading, so there's that), some honey mustard sauce and some more IPAs. It felt like I was buying for an 18-year-old, but you know, sometimes he deserves to have his cravings indulged. Tomorrow, he's back on the spinach!

And... there was toilet tissue and flour! At 5 in the afternoon! I nearly fainted.

Death Valley.  You can climb Telescope Peak, the views are amazing.  Not sure about food though, aren’t all the restaurants closed in CA except for take out?
