Since my local big supermarket was out of all the stuff I need to make green chili (which was requested), I have decided to heed the call I keep seeing and ordered Chinese food. Shockingly people are not ordering from Chinese restaurants out of some ridiculous idea that it's somehow more likely to give you COVID 19 than, say, burritos. (Hey, I love burritos, but please.)

So we went out to run what I figured were our last errands. Al needed a copy of Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities, so off we went to Barnes & Noble in Marina Del Rey. I'd put the level of shoppers at the low end of moderate in there. All staff were wearing gloves and one a face mask. I had to get him to move along because there were a ton of kids in there, and the aisles of the store are fairly close together, but he wanted to check out the sci fi section so I was left having to encourage him to be reasonable and remember we are trying to get in and get out. I am not enjoying my current role as nag.

Next on to Pavilions, the supermarket in the same plaza. I wanted to get more yeast and flour for bread making. Nope! None of either. The shelves were so bare pretty much in every aisle, that everyone was laughing at how absurd it was. Having a great sense of humor helps right now. I did snag ONE box of store brand organic mac and cheese because... we will probably eat it, let's be realistic. I got a bunch of Clif bars, tons of those. On the other hand, there was a lot of what Al termed "poncey" food but he was pulling it off the shelves and from chiller cases anyway. We got one case of the beer he was looking for (that was it in stock) and then he plunked a case of White Claw in the basket. When I gave him a look, he said, woman, there is alcohol in those. I can always judge your alcohol decisions but I care not to.

This is what we ended up with at one point as we were filling up, which when I looked at it was so unbelievably bourgeois I started cackling. When other shoppers asked what was so funny, I said, LOOK AT OUR BASKET! We are the most bougie people in Pavilions, which is QUITE a feat! When we are wiped out, at least we will have had prosciutto, Roquefort, pate, wheatgrass and champagne. And La Croix, natch.

Not pictured: the Double Gloucester, the goose liver pate, the Red Leicester, the water crackers, and my organic mac and cheese, plus allll those Clif bars.

Then on to K&L wines in Hollywood -- he wanted some Icarus brandy: https://www.klwines.com/p/i?i=1421887 I bought a couple of bottles of sauvignon blanc, a few more sparkling wines, a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 year, three more cases of that Golden Road. He got this which I am NOT sure about: https://www.klwines.com/p/i?i=1207290 Looks terrifying, and I may skip.

Oh, and I bought more hand soap.

Might have been the pic. I always use Imgur for my pics but that should not have been suspicious. The links were all K&L which are legit.

Today, I slow-grilled a lamb roast with fresh rosemary from the garden, helped a friend change the lower unit oil in his outboard, worked in the garden, went fishing (4 fresh cichlids on the grill tomorrow evening), and mostly just enjoyed my day.  Talked to some neighbors, laughed, talked, and had a great day.  About to imbibe on a personal-recipe grapefruit vodka/rum punch drink, and have a nice evening at home with mu wife.  Life is good!

Oh, and I might make some sweet rolls for us and the neighbors.  They really love my fresh bread.

Damn, should have dragged you down to the Keys last weekend.  I changed the oil in the outboard and the lower unit too.  If only I knew...  Also installed a wifi thermostat.  You do interior painting?

I am a jack of all trades, master of only the occasional internet conspiracy theory. 😇😇

Of course I can paint!  And I am a whiz on outboard maintenance, as well as a reliable first (or 2nd, 3rd, etc.) mate.  Holla any time you need company or help!  I have also been known to work a lawn mower, and am highly skilled in the use of weed eaters, if such is ever in need.

No lawn and no weeds at the place in the Keys.  That's just too much extra work I don't need.

Thank you Roundup.

Gosh it's quiet in here today. How's everyone holding up?

Honestly? A lot of anxiety about my in-laws and about narrowing any potential exposure when I have to visit the hospital a couple times a month. Still cannot find meat. I've taken a gamble and added myself to a sort of shopping reserve list at a store a couple counties away to see if they will have the items I need, because honestly there is just no more food. They've taken it all. A couple weeks ago I had ordered some items for my husband to pick up at Pennys, and they finally came in tonight. I couldn't shake a weird feeling and it's a good thing I collected them because a very nervous old lady that looked at me like I was the plague told me they would be shutting for good (just got the official notice). She too had so much anxiety... I don't even know if they will pay her anything.

We lost our first patient today to this disease, and another one in Delaware is critical. A family friend is in the ICU. My dentist cancelled all appointments for the foreseeable future. Mom is too scared to go see her oncologist. Hubby is preparing to do some sort of hybrid telework. I am a bit stir crazy from being cooped up and want to go hiking again, but I don't think my health will allow. That's me right now.
