Okay Boiler, I watched it (later) and they do not address the real reason why more women aren't playing war games: B.O. I have been to a gaming store to purchase gifts for a friend who's into RPGs and my god, the stench. I know, #notallgamers, but really.

Really.

I should have laughed, or chuckled, I used to attend a lot of seminars, field trips etc on historical matters, went to a series of lectures in the Tower of London which was cool as they were of an evening in the winter, no tourists and you really felt going in there you had gone back in time and you got to see artifacts and hold things not usually accessible .

Now the thing they all had in common was lack of the fairer sex, you might see Girl Friends on trips but hardly ever Wives.

RPG and the Fantasy stuff I do not know.

Computer games mainly seem to be Men but having said that I do know a few ladies who play, but I only found out that they did by chance and they seemed to be slightly abashed about it. Now I do know tastes differ, I would imagine there is a gender difference between the history of art and war, though amusingly there is an overlap.

I have heard of the Gamergate issue, and it strikes me as logical that game types are focused on gender.

And as we have discussed similar situations arise in Films and Books and whatever.

I think gamers are pretty split down the middle as to who plays, but it's a stereotype that persists.. and well, ladies aren't always treated nicely online, but that's fine. I'll just snipe them a little bit more. Man I remember my MMORPG days... make some dumb boys so mad every time I pulled off a trick they could not and managed to defeat them in team battles. Swearing, aggressively chasing, and just bad behavior and I'd just laugh and laugh and they'd die more and more. Always liked when I played a dude, and they'd just assume I was male... but honestly I liked playing with guys. They'd at least be honest and hilarious even when they thought they were a hot shot. If you had skills you got respect. Know so many ladies that enjoy playing shooters (my bestie was hardcore into Call of Duty) even though they put up with harassment online, but these days I'm content to just coop with the hubby.

You mean a video game store or a DnD type store? Can't say I've ever encountered that. I have had a few stares and one a little too eager to explain to me why purchasing a said video shooter game was a good choice for my husband. Whelp, I burst his bubble when I said... ''oh no it's for me, because I play it". We love playing board games, and have meetups with friends for classy wine tasting and gaming parties. Not geeky kid crowd. We're all sensible non-smelly adults. 😉 Generally I've found all good people at DnD/comic stores. Great bunch of guys and gals willing to help at all times.

I'm referring to the DnD/etc. store I went to a few times in Pasadena. @Cyberfx1024 knows it -- it's right near where he used to live. It's very near Pasadena City College, and there's a lot of very young adults of all sexes/genders/etc. who needed a little hygiene help. I'm not saying all gamers, it's just some of them. Also, I once sent my ex with my friend who is the RPG gamer to a games convention in LA -- Strategicon. (I was trying to help him to do something during AOS.) He came home saying it was "fetid."

Your experience sounds much better!!!!

Yeah it's right on the corner there less than one block away from where I used to live. We used to walk right by it to go to Starbucks, Panda Express, and ChikFila. I loved and hated PCC at the same time because of the amount of stores there but gosh darn that traffic is horrendous. You should have gone across the street to the English bar and got a beer there.

Yes yes yes! I love Lucky Baldwin's! I used to go to the one in Old Town more frequently. That location is the one that my friend Jen and her ex-husband liked to go to when they were hiding from the rest of us that they were getting back together. I have told her really, the success rate of people who remarry is not so good, but you can't make people do things they don't want to do.

Yeah, and the Chik-Fila, my secret liberal shame! 😭

I love Chik-Fila but gosh darn people were hating on them so much when they were building that place saying that it is going to harm the gay community in Pasadena. But when it opened that place is slammed packed almost all the time. Which is certainly much better than the BK that was there before. When they shut the BK down and before they tore it down it became a homeless encampment. I used to be a regular there when we lived in Pasadena. What's funny is my best friend's x-wife works for a architecture company whose main customer is Chik-fila. So she sends teams out across the USA to design the Chik-fila's being built. So she had her own office in Atlanta at the Chik-fila HQ but couldn't smoke down there "because of the Christians".

St. Patty's day is next month so go drink some Kilkenny. Who knows if they will or won't make it, sometimes it takes awhile apart to love each other more.

St David's Day first.

I remember the BK. It was a disaster and an embarrassment. I think Chik-Fila takes too much heat -- there are better targets. There are people who are happy to eat at In-N-Out, another business owned by Christians, who won't think about Chik-Fila. I'm more concerned about the welfare of the workers at the restaurants. Chik-Fila do a great job.

My friends.... hooooooo boy. No one would have pegged them as the hottest messes. She's very sweet and quiet, and he's a sweetheart too, but a bit of a pushover. He cheated on her, she kicked him out and divorced him, he married his mistress, then he started cheating on his new wife with his old one. I mean.... they make me and my crazy look reasonable. :P

No, that's Jenn. This is Jen, the technical writer. I know, it's confusing. I've lived with having two best friends named Jennifer since I was 10.

That makes much more sense, did not sound like something Jenn would do.
