We just had a baby after filing a N-400.  Do we need to inform USCIS?  Is there any advantage in doing so?  What kind of form is needed to do so?

Thanks

Congratulations!! I have personal experience with this question and can provide some insight.

We had our second baby between when we filed my N-400 and my interview date. As a matter of fact, my due date was 2 days after my initial N-400 interview was scheduled, so I ended up asking USCIS to reschedule my interview out of concern that I may not make the interview.

At our rescheduled interview which was a combination I-751 and N-400 (I attended the interview with my husband and two children who waited in the lobby). After the officer approved my I-751, he went over my N-400 and asked about children. I then provided our second child's name, date of birth and place of birth. He entered in the information and showed it to me on the screen to verify. I was approved on the spot and naturalized a month later.

I hope this helps!!
