It seems that USCIS has quietly been increasing the acceptable time range for receipt of NOA1 for many of the common visa processes to 30 days, telling folks not to call if less than 30 days minimum.

Yes I heard that too.

i always wondered why there’s no premium processing option like for H1-Bs.

For a nice additional fee (which could be high of course, “premium”) they could guarantee processing within a set time frame for those that can afford to be impatient. The additional revenue would likely flush enough monies in the sector to increase staff 😄🏽

Canada is not my home country. I have no intention of going there idefinitely. My husband is a US government employee who is in Canada for work. I would like to join him. Aside from wanting to be together though, the house I'm in cannot be sold until I leave so with me not working, he is supporting two households.

Got it. Our comments regarding AOS vs CR1 apply to living in any country outside the US, not only home country. I’m not 100% sure but I believe unless your hubby is in the military and deployed abroad on a base (which is considered US soil) you cannot AOS from there.

His transfer to Canada is why we went to the infopass in the first place... to ask what we should do. Since he works for the government it shouldn't be an issue. It is not a private venture. The timing with this position just did not work in our favor...

15 days during the holidays is not an excessive time......This entire process requires a lot of patience.
