Hi! So I live in California wih my husband and four weeks ago we filed my adjusment of status, I came in to the country with a K1 visa. I know the process for the AOS  can take a long time but it's been four weeks and I haven't received my first NOA. So I don't know if they got my package. Since today is saturday I'm waiting until monday to call and ask but as it is right now I will like to hear if anyone has a case like mine. I'm feeling a litlle bit discouraged and thinking that my process is going to take a long time.

I would say it is just our holidays that at this time of the year slow all offices (every business ) down

we had thanksgiving and many take Black Friday off

we had Christmas and are headed into new year' s eve and New Year's day

many (not all) but many offices tell employees "if you have vacation or sick time left this year,  take it before the end of the year "   /use it or loose it

so this is about the worst time to see things get  done

Although this is true, I am also waiting on NOA1 for AOS papers and have seen on other threads that several people who have filed after me to the Chicago lockbox have received texts and even paper notifications. If holidays are the reason, all petitons should be delayed and it seems they may be (unfairly) processing newer submitions before older.

I am quite frustrated and will also be calling on Monday.

Give it more time and try not to stress too much.  Take it from somebody who turned comparing his timeline to others into an art form.

I think you will be okay.  Keep us posted on your progress and happy holidays.

Thank you, I appreciate your support. I hope they review it soon and send an NOA. Of course I will update when I hear anything...

And I honestly don't see why we should be seeing such a difference with timelines, we submit to the same place and send the same payment, petitions should be reviewed in the order they were received. It's the easiest system.

Happy holidays and happy new year :)

Ours took 2 weeks for an NOA.  But that was last year as well.  Did you get a tracking number that it was delivered?

¡Hola! Entonces no sé si obtuvieron mi paquete. Como hoy es sábado, espero hasta el lunes para llamar y preguntar, pero como es ahora, me gustaría saber si alguien tiene un caso como el mío. Me siento un poco desanimada y pienso que mi proceso llevará mucho tiempo.

I am desperate, my case has 15 days and is not yet in the system, I called and they say the same thing, it is very frustrating

This. What Erin said.  Why are the files not being reviewed in the order they were received?

Cases are different.  In addition, Like a grocery store, some lines within the same store are faster than others.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Sorry, but that is not an acceptable excuse for them to work like this. If my package arrives a week before someone else's (and accepted by the same person, so to your comparison it would be the same line), something in the way they handle things is faulty and unfair. This process is lengthy and exhausting as it is, it is also not cheap, so they can at least make sure requests are taken care of in the order they were received.

The person who signs for accepting the mail is not the Adjudicator....because the same mail room employee accepts 2 cases does not mean they are handled by the same adjudicator.......The requests are generally handled in the order they are received.  Cases are different and adjudicators are different......just as different grocery checkers work at different rates, so do adjudicators.

That's the way it is...

Of course, but they accept the package and pass it on, so something is not working properly along the way. My issue is not with processing time once the case is received, but I just want to know that it was received and will be attended to fairly. Not to mention my package clearly stated at the top "Expedite request" but apparently that makes even less of a difference to anyone there. I don't see a reason to justify their incompetence.

Actually, much like the initial 129-F petition, I was under the impression that once the package is received it is looked at to make sure payment is correct and no GLARING omissions.  Then it is shipped along to an office where THEN it is given to an adjudicator.  I thought the purpose of the NO1 (again we realize this is not a decision just a receipt) is to let you know your package is received and until said decision is made you have lawful presence in this country.  Some people have k-1s that thanks to lockbox are overstaying their visas thru no fault of their own.
