Thanks for both your advice, so what do you guys suggest we do?

And does it mean that having a job in a foreign country shows employability?

I think in your situation, most couples would have the USC return to the US to get a job and establish domicile so that he/she qualifies to sponsor an immigrant.

COs look at the totality of financial circumstances when evaluating an immigrant's public charge risk.  This would include level of education, employment history, etc.

I am guessing that they will send your husband home to establish residency and get a job before they approve the visa.

Either way good luck

Has your USC spouse maintained US domicile at all? Do they have a plan for you both to move to the USA? Have you looked through the wiki regarding reestablishing domicile? Has your husband ever lived in the USA?

Having a job previously shows you have worked, but in reality it doesn't matter.  The questions on the DS260 are meant for background information on the beneficiary.  It's even more important for places like Pakistan where there is no background check.

Interesting that the OP comes here concerned about something benign and irrelevant such as updating her work status on the DS260, when really they've got much larger issues.

Yes, they have a bank account there (which we also have been transferring money to due to the imminent move), a permanent residence, valid Driver license, voting registration, State ID. And yes there is a plan to move back with jobs being applied for in the city we intend to move to. I have looked through the wiki and yes my spouse has lived in the USA for around 7 years before marriage.

My question about the employment was more related to my USC spouse. Since people here said (or at least made it seem like) that being unemployed in Pakistan looks bad for the interview. And I don’t get that because people change or leave jobs all the time so why is it a big issue, especially when the employment in Pakistan doesn’t really matter at all.

So I guess what I’m asking is that is the USC spouse’s unemployment here an issue or not?

I understand the benign nature of the issue, but I wasn’t sure, hence asked the question. And all of you said that the update has to be made.

Unemployment in pakistan us less of an issue than unemployment in the USA.  Update things at interview. If your USC spouse does not plan yet for moving back before interview it may be required. Not sure.
