Hi everyone,

I am confused about ORIGINAL financial documents. For interview they require all original forms and docs. As for the form I864, I filled it out on the computer and signed it on the computer also. Will it count as ORIGINAL even though I will just email it to my mom? Or do I have to print it and send it by mail? It might be a stupid question, but I do not want to the consular officer refuse her visa.

Thank you everyone who can help.

I can not tell you what is considered original in terms of I-864 (I am still waiting for my I-130 petition to be approved) - but I can tell you what I would (will) do.

If there is a signature, that you need to put on I-864 with an ink - then mail it out to your mom.

If it was 100% electronic I-864 with electronic signature, then just email your mom a copy.

Om a separate note I have a question to you: Is she going to bring an original of your birth certificate to prove a parental relationship? Or just a copy?

I don't want to ship the original of my birth certificate to Ukraine after I-130 will be approved.

Reading through the website of US embassy in Ukraine, and DOS website, it looks like "Svidodstvo" can not have a certified copy, and hence an original may be needed for beneficiary to bring to interview.

Yes, I -864 requires the signature, but I signed it on the computer through Adobe Reader. So I never used a pen.

And for your question, just today I actually sent my original birth certificate by express mail to Ukraine. I hope it'll get there on time...
