Does not need to be a US source, does not need to be a US company, does need to be proven. Selling overseas properties may work but not always, I remember a time in the UK when the market was dead and they would not accept property valuations as they could take a long time to sell.

Are you saying that a USC/LPR petitioner who lives and works abroad can use that foreign income as a basis to petition an immigrant?

 You could live and work in the USA for a foreign company, paid in foreign currency.  You could own foreign property and use that value as well.

Or you could have a letter from the foreign company confirming that they will transfer you to their US office on x date, thus also helping prove the intended move in domicile. Know someone who was in this exact position.
