I'm so sorry, they will adjust to being kept in the run.  Too many predator will snatch them with you just being feet away. They are so much faster and stealthy. Then you have hunger too. How hungry they are will be how bold they are.

 

We keep ours locked tight but I also have some playground areas that are less secure then their main run/coop but still keeps them safe from the hawks (our only daytime predator).

Thx. Yes. I knew it was a risk. Not like I haven’t lost whole clutches before .. but never like it when it happens. We are going to expand the run .. it’s more than adequate already .. but we have the room to extend.  Unfortunately their gate is right at the property line and over the fence is the most luscious deep leaf litter ..more appealing than even our worms ticks and bugs. But pen it is ! And locked in the henhouse at dusk.

Oh that deep leaf would probably where mine would want to be too. Being in the city we only have a few options. I made a tunnel system to take them to different areas of the yard while staying in code haha.

Hot. I waited until 19:30 to try and cut the lawn, and I had to give up as it got too dark. Trying to get it done before the rain starts.  I will have to try and finish in the morning.

I really don't like having to go back out there another day. The thing is, my mower is battery operated. I usually run out of power about the same time as the machine If the weather allows I can do it in one go, but too darn hot today.

Spent entire morning rescheduling Monday's aborted trip, adjust we man.

Had to leave casa to go to supermarket, out of Gatorade Zero (we prefer G2) we man.

Heavy-laundry day (2+2 loads man), and Ecus kept raising the A/C to Many,000 degrees, grrrr man.

Mini-B. spent day frolicking in inflated pool with #2 little amigo, cavort wee men.

Got partial nap, semi-zzz we man.

Saw shadow out back and briefly thought that it was Cat T-B., sigh man.
