How's everyone?

 

It's May 9, like a cold winter day here. Snowing upstate. 

Mother nature playing a joke on us.

It's been more than a month since I last gone to the office for work. 

Still everyday, I get up between 530- 6, as if I had something to do. 

It's like getting out of jail after a life sentence. (Refer to Shawshank)

I speak to the ole big guy who's been gone over a year.

He says he's still not used to it. 

Of course, the pandemic is no help. 

I can't see myself not doing anything. 

It's driving me nuts. 

Question is, what now?

Last year I lived in Wisconsin (9th grade) and first year I lived upstate (10th) it snowed in May.

 

Yeah, when I was offered a job in San Diego, I took it, and have only been back to central NY once since then ... 🤣

It's one of those just breathe through it days today. Despite planning on a productive day, instead I've found it nigh impossible to do pretty much anything :(
Even the happiest of memories sharpen the pain of the loss right now-I know it's part of the process I just gotta make it through & I will but it blows!
5 years ago this very day we were in each other's arms for the first time...it was magical then, & always.
Nothing else in all of this world can ever come close to how it felt to be held by him.

Ah well, exam on Monday!

It's a day that brings you pain but I'm sure because of the happy memories.  One day it'll just be a happy memory day.

I messaged you the other day but no response so I'm glad you're updating here.

I also am up by 6 and try to work out.  Not sure what I do with the rest of my day tbh so I can't help beyond that eventually you'll find yourself a farm and do work there.  I'm sure not being busy is driving you the most bonkers.

Herself was up in the night. Yarking up, or trying her best to. She did something she hasn't done here before, she left me a package on the rug and then trod it ..everywhere. She seemed ok this morning, but by 10 she was at it again. Very unlike her to not want her breakfast. The Vet closed at noon today, but they took her all the same. He was on a farm call, and I was told he would be in early in the afternoon to have a look. I'd about given up by 18:00, but he called to tell me I could pick her up. Essentially, he found nothing. No new food, nothing weird at all. This is the second time in 3 weeks she's done this. So, if she does it again he thinks he will test for pancreatitis. Another week of pills to try and get down her neck. We pretty much both hate it.

 

I pulled the stove out from the wall yesterday, searching for where the mouse has been getting in. Expanding foam, copper mesh, and a proper baseboard should at least slow him down. While I had it out from the wall, I thought as I already have the paint for the kitchen I would go ahead minus Herself and do that. I'm not the carpenter Himself was, but it looks ok.  It's in the way, of course, but it can jolly well stay there until tomorrow.

 

Tomorrow the lawn.

Second consecutive civilized week, what with ESs itineraried man.  We attended two, dual joy man.

The take, see man:

  -- 2 large rolls Reynolds foil (full/mostly full); Many (2+1) bottles Olay facial toner; 

       mostly full bottle Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil; 2 Big Chief tablets = $Many ($2x2x2+2), steal man

  -- full canister Lysol wipes (!); 2 office scissors; Swingline stapler = $Many ($2x2x2-1), deal man

Total = $Many ($2x2x2x2+1)

Thread-Laundress report, special man:

 

After a morning (shall we call it) intense caucus about division of casa-hold duties, a miracle happened, imagine that man.

 

Mrs. T-B. did a laundry load of her own, mirabile visu et dictu man.

Of course, we had to bake/fold it, ADD she man.

And it might mess up our intense mental calculations about warshering capacity on Sun., egad man.

And it exhibited Many distinct rookie mistakes, expert laundress we not she man.

With counseling and strong medication, Mrs. T-B. might rise to Adequacy in Laundering, hope we man.

Oh yeah, sorry I meant to get back to you. It was a cool clip....

For many years, I woke up having something to do. 

I don't know what I'm feeling. 

I always did understand why some people, like Warren Buffet, don't retire. 

Old timers always told me that retirement is a happy time. 

Here there's no celebration. No fanfare. 

As word trickled around, I have several offers. 

But I'm going to wait and see if I can get used to this. 

This is the longest amount of time I've taken off since leaving the Marines. 

Just over a month. 

I feel like I can write a memoir to my kids. 

1 Gulf war, 2 excursions, 1 ground zero, many disasters, 3 businesses.

All worked out pretty good...
