My doctors office is no longer allowing visitors into appointments so my husband doesn't get to come in anymore and hear baby's heart beat. The hospital I'll be delivering at has created a no-visitor policy except in certain situations, labor and delivery being one of them for now. If this is still going on in June, I hope that my husband will be able to be there.@DaveAndAnastasia I hope you'll be allowed in for the birth of mini-Dave in a few weeks.

Only reason I was allowed in last Monday was because we had an appointment to meet a pediatrician. Next visit I'm not even allowed in the waiting area (PRG can't drive, so I may end up waiting in my car; at least it's an afternoon appointment and we're in San Diego).

They're currently saying I'll be allowed in labor & delivery, and since PRG wants me there, I'm crossing my fingers that doesn't change. And hoping mini-Dave doesn't decide he wants to be here early.

My mom said we might end up doing a virtual baby shower. I'd of course like to have a baby shower in anyway possible, but I'm prepared for it to be a failure. I didn't have a wedding shower.

No showers were even planned here either (my family's all out of state except for a few male cousins), but apparently they're not really a thing in Russia (at least not in PRG's hometown). Did get a couple of bags full of baby stuff from my co-workers on the last day I went into the office, though.

I called up there last night just after I got into bed, just to check. His test results for covid19  were negative, no kidding, and they asked if I wanted to come up then or wait until morning. Seriously?!?

He had the MRI and the CT before they called, and the results are pretty grim. He has had seven strokes, all recent, one a pontine which is not good.

I was afraid he would not know me, but the second he saw me his eyes popped open wide and he burst into tears. Poor lad, wondering where I have been all this time.

I was back up there this morning at 0700, met with Medical, Neuro, speech therapy and respiratory.  I have decided along with all of those folks that we will wait it out for a bit and see what happens, what sort of recovery he might make if any. In his present state without any progress at all he isn't a candidate for going home, he needs too much care.  He has movement on the left, some of it purposeful, and he has a good strong grip with the left hand. He will nod or shake his head, and blink when asked to. He will move the left leg when asked, but it's like there is a time-lapse.

The one thing none of us wanted to put off is the talk. If he has a further stroke, not unlikely, or other critical event I've said no to resuscitation. I am quite aware of what his choices would be, and he would agree with that.

Words are woefully inadequate at times :(

Keeping you in my prayers

We still have a couple of feet of snow here. It snowed about 4-6 inches a couple of days ago. And it was about about 30-40 degrees colder here than the northern European iceball when I got back.

Worked out a little today, might go for a walk, hope nobody recognizes me and panics. Isolation doesn't mean no walks, mmk?

On a venting note:

Why does it cost almost $300 for my sub-compact's car registration?  So it's tiny.  It's new.  Why it's it $225 more than my 2003 mustang?  Or $75 more than my husband's 2016 focus RS?  WHY?!?!  Granted it's an ST, but still, it should be less than two much heavier sports cars!!!

Some kind of day I've had.

He remains the same, no movement on the left, cannot speak, is minimally conscious. His breathing is terrible and his chest is very wet. He hasn't the strength to cough, and cannot clear his own secretions. All the same, without warning or the promised consultation,  Himself has been shifted out of MICU to palliative care. He is now one of 6 patients to a single nurse.

He cannot call out or press a call bell. He isn't on telemetry anymore.

I had to lose my cheery disposition to have respiratory and medical paged. They weren't happy as it was closed to shift change, but too bad how sad. He has a nurse to himself and has been properly suctioned and seemed resting better.

I wasn't very happy to leave him for the night, but I need to eat, and all the cafeterias and the like are shut. So, I called the shuttle to get back to the hotel. I called them 4 times, and it goes to voicemail. Seems the shuttle driver has quit and walked off the job. I told the front desk they darned well better get SOMEONE up there to uplift me. 45 minutes later, the maintenance man pulled up inn the shuttle. I wasn't prepared to walk that distance after being on my feet all day in the cold though a seedy part of town.

Enough already. I have reached the giddy limit.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
