I'm catching up, but in the meantime.

I'm on day 7 of quarantine after coming back from Europe. It sucks and I'm bored.  No work, no school, and no contact with the Dane or the kids. They keeping having to put out PSAs to stop spreading rumors in town that people, *cough* me, have corona virus. Even if I did - if that is was that minor cough and sore throat was, we are all going to get it. No toilet paper fortress is going to be protecting them from the impending doom.

My job offer to interview ratio remains unchanged. I must interview well or something. I don't know when I have time for this new flex job at other employer unless I never want to sleep. If the rest of the semester and clinicals gets cancelled, that will change.

What do people do when the kids are off school and they have to go to work? Makes me glad I am older and out of that game now.

In Minnesota, the schools must continue to provide daycare for the children of emergency and healthcare workers, but they are only doing ages 4-12. We are more in trouble if our daycare closes, because then our toddler has nowhere to go.

Wife's employer told her today that she's to 'work from home' from tomorrow onwards. That is, to be standby the whole day without pay and only pay if they give her a task to do…

Meanwhile, even though no one will be in the office, the receptionist will 'work' from home with full pay…

Fortunately, because of the massive amount of PTO that we tend to accrue, I had enough to cover 3 weeks off minus 4 hours and that is only because I'm contracted to work more than 40 hours a week. The difference in the last paycheck without my overtime and night/weekend differentials was noticeable.

I called up there last night just after I got into bed, just to check. His test results for covid19  were negative, no kidding, and they asked if I wanted to come up then or wait until morning. Seriously?!?

He had the MRI and the CT before they called, and the results are pretty grim. He has had seven strokes, all recent, one a pontine which is not good.

I was afraid he would not know me, but the second he saw me his eyes popped open wide and he burst into tears. Poor lad, wondering where I have been all this time.

I was back up there this morning at 0700, met with Medical, Neuro, speech therapy and respiratory.  I have decided along with all of those folks that we will wait it out for a bit and see what happens, what sort of recovery he might make if any. In his present state without any progress at all he isn't a candidate for going home, he needs too much care.  He has movement on the left, some of it purposeful, and he has a good strong grip with the left hand. He will nod or shake his head, and blink when asked to. He will move the left leg when asked, but it's like there is a time-lapse.

The one thing none of us wanted to put off is the talk. If he has a further stroke, not unlikely, or other critical event I've said no to resuscitation. I am quite aware of what his choices would be, and he would agree with that.

And here I am ranting about something inconsequential on the next page without seeing this. I'm so sorry to hear this, but it is good that he has you looking out for his wishes and best interest.

Anyone have any knowledge of a place to buy some healthy young layer hens

in SW Missouri ? Isa Browns / Rhode Island Red / Australorp as a preference.

You may have trouble. There is a warning that ppl are trying to buy laying hens just to sell eggs at 10$ a dozen, so they are warning us in the chicken groups. Don't know if it's just a warning because when Hens are moved to a new home they stop laying. Some can take weeks to months before they start up again. So that would defeat the scammers who have no interest in properly caring for them.

I'm in several FB chicken groups for my area you should be able to find some too, and check craiglist. If you can't get hens you may find some selling eggs without the price gouging.

Find some FB groups you should be able to find some there. Most of the time ppl are starting to thin out their flock for the new chicks they have coming in.

There is a FB group called Backyardchickens, just like the website backyardchickens.com  they are from all over and you might find someone local on there too.

I just had the worst week as a business owner (childcare). I felt obligated to stay open. We had a third of the workers working and a grand total of 15 out of 65 kids attending. But the Governor proclaimed child care centers should remain open (and in fact, said that day cares that receive vouchers get more money......we do not receive vouchers). The school has a mortgage payment and I really want to pay my staff.....but I’m drowning......my headache....my rant for today.....I am exhausted and going to sleep....... I will try again tomorrow

Yikes. So many small business owners must be struggling.  The Dane and I are still working (or I will be in a week), and so are most of the other people I know at the moment. Most people here don't have jobs you can telecommute to (farming, healthcare, trades, manufacturing).

I've lost count, but I think I'm on day nine of being at home. My manager texted me while I was at a doctors appointment telling me to work from home until further notice. A few days later it was announced that someone in my building (apparently the floor below me) had tested positive. My MIL is sick, might be infected, and has been told to isolate but my in-laws live in the second poorest county in England (poorest if you don't count the Isle of Wight) so we have no idea if or when they'll be able to test her. We're both in the mindset that London has the majority of tests and if they're on full lock down they won't be sending any out.

My doctors office is no longer allowing visitors into appointments so my husband doesn't get to come in anymore and hear baby's heart beat. The hospital I'll be delivering at has created a no-visitor policy except in certain situations, labor and delivery being one of them for now. If this is still going on in June, I hope that my husband will be able to be there.@DaveAndAnastasia I hope you'll be allowed in for the birth of mini-Dave in a few weeks.

My mom said we might end up doing a virtual baby shower. I'd of course like to have a baby shower in anyway possible, but I'm prepared for it to be a failure. I didn't have a wedding shower. 90% of my birthday parties growing up were complete busts (partly because I was not cool and partly because I was born in the summer while everyone was on vacation). I'm mostly pissed at getting a maternity parking pass for work, using it for three weeks, and then being told to work from home until May, and my maternity parking pass expires at the end of May. And I'm not due until almost mid-June.

I am finally able to do a few things I wouldn't normally be able to do. I've taken a few midday runs to help break up the monotony of work. I was able to do laundry on a non-weekend too! Work does feel a little more urgent than usual as I work in Healthcare IT. If a ticket is logged and it's a question or functionality thing in regards to the virus we have special tags to put on it and then the ticket displays a biohazard icon which is pretty nifty. A lot of the time it doesn't feel as if my job is really making a difference, but I guess now it really kind of is. I usually get a lot of grief from doctors and nurses, or hospital IT staff that the software they are using is terrible and how much they all hate it, and I have to be a nice IT person and grit my teeth and somehow not say "I didn't make it so stop complaining to me". But I guess all these people finally have something else to focus on to where when I work through an issue with them and the problem is fixed, or explain how something works they are just grateful to know so they can do their jobs more effectively.

Edit: now I see this actually posted, it looks pretty damn long like an actual rant.
